What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Design, plan, and conduct durability tests to assess the long-term reliability and robustness of vehicle systems and components.
- Ensure that all testing activities adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Ability to lead the cross-functional teams (e.g., design, engineering, manufacturing) to implement design changes based on test feedback.
- Lead the selection and sizing process for data acquisition instrumentation (e.g., accelerometers).
- Support drive file development with strategic partners conducting controlled environment durability (RTS) rig testing.
- Utilize specialized testing equipment and software to collect and analyze data during testing procedures.
- Lead the RLDA process, including vehicle selection, sub-system/component confirmation, and instrumentation.
- Champion loads analysis with capable separation of peak loading scenarios versus improper data logged.
- Collaborate closely with Scout CAE team to ensure correct modeling, correct inputs, and analysis for results. Cascade results to Main System Teams and assist in countermeasure development.
- Manage pre-test, in-test, and post-test vehicle level inspection and reviews.
- Investigate any failures or issues that arise during durability testing to determine the root causes and propose solutions.
- Generate detailed reports summarizing test results, findings and recommendations for design or material modifications.
- Oversee and maintain the testing equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition and calibrated accurately.
- Contribution and adherence to the budget for durability testing activities.
- Travel to data acquisition & testing sites locally, domestically, and/or internationally as needed.
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time. Domestic and international travel to data acquisition/ testing sites is required.

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience in durability and specialized testing within the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
- Proficiency in using specialized testing equipment, data acquisition systems, and analysis software.
- Ideal candidate will have previously instrumented a vehicle for data collection, conducted data acquisition, analyzed the resulting data, and confirmed loads development.
- Ideal candidate will have previously supported drive file development for (RTS) rig testing.
- Strong understanding of material strengths and testing methodologies.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel locally, domestically, and internationally.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $110,000-$130,000
Internal leveling code: IC9
