What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Perform hands-on tuning and calibration of suspension and steering components, such as dampers, springs, sway bars, bushings, and steering components, to achieve targeted handling characteristics
- Conduct at limit vehicle testing in various environments (high mu, wet, snow, off-road) and translate subjective feedback into objective results for reports
- Perform vehicle dynamic objectivation measurements with various vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition tools
- Understand and demonstrate how individual parts contribute to ride comfort, steering feel/response, dynamic ability, and overall vehicle performance
- Develop and execute plans to meet program milestones, regulatory requirements, and a successful launch.
- Partner with other concept & systems architect teams to come up with solutions to engineering & functional challenges
- Prepare detailed technical reports on test results, findings, and recommendations for improvements
- Coordinate with relevant part suppliers and track any needed deadlines, processes, tests, or events to meet vehicle deadlines and milestones
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
- The responsibilities of this role require 3-4 days attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering
- 4+ years of experience in vehicle testing and tuning, specifically with a focus on suspension and steering components for Body on Frame Trucks/SUVs. Hybrid/EV applications a plus
- Deep understanding of suspension and steering kinematics, and how physical adjustments impact ride quality and vehicle dynamics
- A passion for vehicle operation and performance, specifically in truck and off-road vehicle development.
- Advanced project steering and coordination skills to practice independent project management for a defined development scope.
- High-performance driving skills and experience testing vehicles at the limit. External certifications a plus
- Knowledge of vehicle data acquisition tools used in vehicle dynamics objectivation and steering/shock/spring tuning (Vbox, CANalyzer, OE specific interface software, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with in-vehicle testing on public roads, proving grounds and specialized test tracks.
- Motivation to work at the cutting edge of electric vehicle technical design, creation of new ideas and solutions, and enjoyment of hands-on vehicle testing.
- Ability to travel to perform tests as required
- Excellent communication and teamwork. both internally and with external parties

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $120,000.00 - $135,000.00
