What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Design and Development: Engineer steering system components; including Electric Power Steering (EPS), steering columns, and intermediate shafts. Lead the design and development processes for these components.
- Supplier Coordination: Interface with suppliers to ensure components meet structural, performance, and packaging requirements.
- Chassis and Drive Systems Integration: Contribute to the development and integration of chassis and drive systems for Scout all-electric pick-up trucks and rugged SUVs.
- Technical Excellence: Uphold the vision of engineering excellence and serve as a source of technical knowledge. Introduce innovative ideas and collaborate cross-functionally to achieve the Scout vision.
- Engineering Improvements: Critically review existing designs, ideas, and specifications, proposing engineering improvements.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members to design and develop improved packaging and testing strategies, fostering engagement and contributions from all involved.
- Solution Development: Partner with concept and systems architecture teams to develop solutions for engineering and functional challenges.
- Prototype and Serial Development: Coordinate prototype and serial development stages, including part availability, test planning, and part releases.
- Additional Tasks: Participate in other related tasks and activities as required.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
- The responsibilities of this role require attendance in office with in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Engineering Technology.
- Experience: 4+ years of EPS (electric power steering) experience in concept engineering or serial development, with a focus on platforms/variants, module selection, and modification within the chassis environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD/FEA part design, testing, and development engineering related to steering systems. Experience with requirements management, system integration, and manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Project Management: Advanced project steering and coordination skills, with the ability to independently manage projects within a defined chassis part scope.
- Motivation and Innovation: Highly motivated engineer eager to work at the forefront of electric vehicle technical design, generate innovative ideas and solutions, and engage in hands-on testing.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, including ownership, self-motivation, problem-solving, analytical thinking, teamwork, innovation, creativity, communication, and the ability to develop and thrive in collaborative working relationships.
- Cross-Functional Excellence: Proven ability to excel in a cross-functional environment.
- Proactive Approach: Adopts a proactive and innovative approach to engineering, consistently delivering results and solving challenges efficiently.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $120,000.00 - $135,000.00
