What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Supervision & Team Leadership:
    • Manage a Team: Lead and supervise a team of truck controllers or drivers, ensuring they perform their tasks efficiently and in compliance with safety and operational standards. 
    • Training & Development: Train new team members and ensure ongoing development for the team, improving skills related to truck dispatch, control, and route management. 
    • Performance Management: Monitor the performance of team members, provide constructive feedback, and ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) are met. 
    • Schedule Coordination: Plan and organize shifts for the truck control team to ensure 24/7 or optimal coverage depending on operational needs. 
  • Truck Scheduling & Dispatch Control:
    • Dispatch Coordination: Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of trucks, ensuring that delivery and pickup schedules are adhered to. This includes ensuring that trucks are dispatched in a timely and efficient manner. 
    • Route Optimization: Ensure that trucks are assigned optimal routes, considering factors like traffic, weather conditions, and delivery deadlines. 
    • Load Planning: Work with other departments to ensure that trucks are loaded correctly, within capacity limits, and in a way that minimizes delays or damage during transit. 
  • Monitoring Truck Movements:
    • Track Fleet Movements: Monitor the real-time movement of trucks using GPS and telematics systems, ensuring that all trucks are on schedule. 
    • Problem Resolution: Quickly address any issues that arise during transportation, such as vehicle breakdowns, delays, or route changes, and make necessary adjustments. 
    • Safety Compliance: Ensure that drivers follow all safety regulations and company policies during their routes, including the maintenance of driving hours, inspections, and safety equipment use. 
  • Communication & Coordination:
    • Liaison with Other Departments: Act as a point of contact between truck control, the logistics department, warehouse teams, and customers, ensuring smooth communication and coordination. 
    • Driver Communication: Provide clear instructions to drivers regarding routes, schedules, and any operational changes. Be available to address any concerns or emergencies during their routes. 
    • Customer Service: Address any customer inquiries or issues related to truck delivery times or routes, ensuring that customer satisfaction is maintained. 
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    • Daily Reporting: Generate and review daily, weekly, and monthly reports on truck operations, including truck movements, delays, and fuel consumption. 
    • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records related to truck schedules, maintenance logs, and driver performance. 
    • Performance Analysis: Analyze truck performance data and identify areas for improvement, such as route inefficiencies, downtime, or driver productivity. 
  • Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
    • Adherence to Regulations: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including licensing, weight restrictions, and hours of service regulations for drivers. 
    • Fleet Maintenance: Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure that trucks are regularly serviced, preventing breakdowns and ensuring safety. 
    • Environmental Compliance: Ensure that trucks adhere to environmental standards related to emissions, fuel usage, and other relevant guidelines. 
  • Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization:
    • Process Review: Regularly review and evaluate truck control processes to identify areas for improvement, including truck scheduling, fleet management, and efficiency in operations. 
    • Implement Changes: Recommend and implement improvements to truck control and scheduling practices, leveraging technology, data analytics, and best practices. 
    • Cost Efficiency: Identify cost-saving opportunities related to truck operations, such as optimizing fuel usage, reducing downtime, or minimizing delays. 
  • Crisis Management:
    • Emergency Response: Lead the team in responding to any transportation emergencies or unforeseen disruptions, such as accidents, traffic issues, or inclement weather. Make decisions on alternative routes or solutions to minimize impact on operations. 
    • Contingency Planning: Ensure that there are contingency plans in place for disruptions in the transport network (e.g., truck breakdowns, vehicle accidents, etc.). 
  • Technology Utilization:
    • Use of Fleet Management Systems: Utilize advanced truck control and fleet management software to track deliveries, optimize schedules, and monitor driver performance. 
    • Data Analysis: Analyze operational data (e.g., delivery times, fuel consumption, driver performance) to inform decision-making and improve efficiency. 
  • Budget & Resource Management:
    • Resource Allocation: Ensure that the correct number of trucks are allocated to meet operational demands while avoiding overuse or underuse of resources. 
    • Cost Control: Help control costs related to transportation, including fuel, maintenance, and labor. 
  • Skills and Qualifications: 
    • Strong leadership and team management skills. 
    • Experience with truck control, dispatch, and logistics operations. 
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. 
    • Familiarity with fleet management software and transportation management systems (TMS). 
    • Understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements. 
    • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions. 

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, South Carolina.
  • The responsibilities of this role require daily attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Experience:
    • Logistics/Transportation Experience: At least 5 to 10 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or warehouse management, with a focus on truck control or similar responsibilities. 
    • Supervisory/Leadership Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role managing a team of logistics or transportation personnel. 
    • Automotive or Manufacturing Experience (Preferred): Experience working in an automotive manufacturing environment or a similar high-paced, production-driven industry is beneficial. 
  • Educational Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s Degree (Highly Preferred): A degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is highly preferred. 
    • High School Diploma/GED (Minimum): A high school diploma or GED is generally required, with additional certifications in logistics, safety, or transportation management being a plus. 
  • Skills:
    • Leadership and Team Management: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team, ensuring productivity and compliance with safety and quality standards. 
    • Knowledge of Logistics Systems: Familiarity with logistics and warehouse management systems (WMS), as well as transportation management software (TMS). 
    • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to handle logistical issues such as delays, missed shipments, or inventory discrepancies. 
    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with teams, drivers, and other departments effectively. 
    • Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively, ensuring truck schedules and deliveries are met on time without compromising quality or safety. 
    • Attention to Detail: Precision and attention to detail when verifying shipments, handling documentation, and managing inventory. 
    • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols in the warehouse, especially in high-risk areas like truck docks. 
    • Quality Management System: Detailed Knowledge and extensive Experience in Quality Management Systems (ISO, VDA, etc) and related process requirements  
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Certified Logistics Professional (CLP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) – APICS or similar certification. 
    • Forklift Safety or Truck Loading Certifications – relevant safety training and certification. 
    • Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or Warehouse Management System (WMS) certification. 
  • Technical Skills:
    • Computer Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and knowledge of logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, TMS, WMS). 
    • Data Analysis: Ability to use data to track performance metrics, report on truck control KPIs, and identify improvement opportunities.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $110,000.00 - $125,000.00
