Overview

Scout is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Specialist – Specialty Vehicle Logistics to manage the end-to-end transportation and coordination of prototype and pre-series vehicles, ramping up to production series vehicles. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the secure, timely, and compliant movement of vehicles between manufacturing plants, engineering centers, test facilities, and high-profile marketing events, both domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate brings a strategic mindset, deep understanding of prototype handling protocols, and extensive experience in automotive logistics.

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Lead the development and implementation of outbound vehicle solutions, including network design, carrier selection, and operational execution.
  • Manage complex domestic and international transportation activities, including customs clearance, temporary import/export documentation (e.g., ATA Carnets), and regulatory compliance.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute vehicle shipments for prototype and pre-series vehicles, ensuring alignment with program timelines, test plans, and event schedules.
  • Collaborating with Outbound Logistics and act as the primary logistics liaison between Product Development, Manufacturing, Engineering, Testing, Quality, Marketing, and external logistics providers.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of prototype vehicles during transit through controlled handling procedures, secure transport methods, and non-disclosure protocols with logistics partners.
  • Coordinate vehicle staging and logistics for durability testing, emissions testing, media events, auto shows, and promotional tours
  • Analyze logistics performance metrics and propose process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize the vehicle movement lifecycle
  • Support the development and implementation of Scout’s long-term finished vehicle logistics strategy of the North America truck and rail network.
  • Be actively involved in the contracting and selection process of finished vehicle logistics providers.

 

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of a Sout Motors location in Novi, Michigan; Blythewood, South Carolina; or Columbia, South Carolina. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
  • Travel: Domestic travel required up to 25% of the time

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience in finished vehicle logistics and/or pre-series vehicle management.
  • Strong understanding of prototype logistics, transportation planning, and specialized vehicle handling, ensuring seamless deliveries that meet production schedules and event deadlines.
  • Experience working with global shipping services and specialty vehicle carriers.
  • Proficiency with logistics software, transportation management systems (TMS), and load optimization tools.
  • Experience handling pre-series vehicles, prototypes, and show cars, including specialized security and confidentiality measures.
  • A diverse history and skillset within automotive finished vehicle logistics operations that makes you both an operations generalist and capable of quickly grasping the detailed tasks necessary to manage all aspects of OEM sales operations.
  • A desire to build from a clean sheet that is supported by a talent for creating process, defining tasks, and building alignment with numerous stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain healthy cross-functional relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical mindset and capabilities, augmented by a high degree of technical know-how and savvy with data and analytics tools.
  • Intuitive ability to navigate organizational complexity and confidently lead strategic, data-driven discussions with management.
  • Willingness to establish two-way lines of communication with front-line operations to gather market feedback and translate that into actionable insights to sharpen the company’s competitive position.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license required

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $100,000.00 - $135,000.00
