What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Training of the Paint Shop Team members/Team leaders/supervisors/specialists/Technicians
- Developing training in fundamental skills needed in an automotive Paint shop environment.
- Serves as Master Trainer for Fundamental Skills. Develop general and specific training modules for Paint Shop.
- Interacting and networking with key contacts outside the own area of expertise.
- Directing and applying the Scout principles working as a multiplier for the company. New guidelines, culture and code of conduct are set in the on-boarding process
- Results are direct measured by internal customer - the different shop Management.
- Cooperation with process owners from Body Shop, Assembly and Quality department.
- Benchmarking for trouble shooting/research for defects. The knowledge gained will be frequently used to update and introduce into the training activities/training aids will be frequently adjusted.
- Develop training for process and quality improvement. (CIP)
- Advice on complex matters training different experts in Paint shop": robotics, color matching and chemicals, final revision, repair, application of PVC, preparation of surfaces, quality, safety.
- Identifies annual training needs and training gaps in the Paint Shop and throughout organization.
- Planning and facilitation of the training, capacitation, recording of documentation including retention of records using both the LMS and/or other tracking systems.
- Negotiate with Department management, develop and announce training schedule.
- Issues certification of competence for the position of Paint shop Team Members.
- Investigate equipment requirements and develop proposal for budget planning.
- Develop Training curriculum and Introduce training data into a learning management system.
- Collect and evaluate data, analyze that data.
- Conduct performance gap analysis/problem solving to determine the root cause of defects.
- Lead teams in problem solving activities.
- Participate in CIP workshops to meet and exceed company goals and objectives.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina.
- The responsibilities of this role require attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- High school diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- A minimum of 4 years of OEM experience in automotive manufacturing or automotive environment, especially in a Paint shop.
- Experience in all OEM related paint shop areas: robotics, color matching and chemicals, final revision, repair, application of PVC, preparation of surfaces, quality, safety.
- Paint processes as a whole need to be understood to be able to apply trouble shout methodologies.
- Knowledge of complex matters like understanding different materials and chemicals, as well as their reactions is requested.
- Adaptability to work outside of normal office hours, flexibility to travel and train abroad.
- Extensive hands-on experience in all paint shop processes including sanding, manual sealer applications, paint quality inspection, and paint repair.
- Proven ability to perform these tasks to a high standard and effectively train others in best practices, techniques, and process compliance
- Experience in Training of production Team members/team leaders/supervisors/specialists/technicians
- Deep knowledge of Lean Management: Six sigma, Production Systems, lean principles
- Documentation that verifies the following: Employment letters and training records; and manufacturing or automation experience
- Problem solving skills, Production system skills, 5s, Coordination and communication skills

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $110,000.00 - $132,500.00
Internal leveling code: IC8
