What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Schedule and monitor supplier quality audits (POT, QTR, ASPICE) and subsequent Corrective Action follow up to ensure the suppliers ability to meet part performance, delivery, and reliability in support of Scout’s VDA and IATF expectations.
  • Gathering and analyzing results of POT, QTR, ASPICE audits and archive appropriately.
  • Create a weekly agenda & lead the assignment of Q-Ratings in GAS TI with the collaboration of the following groups: Quality, Purchasing, Engineering, Logistics
  • Facilitate understanding of technical requirements between Suppliers with Scout Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams to always ensure proper transparency and communication.
  • Collaborate with Scout’s Design, Quality, and Manufacturing to determine the ideal performance specifications and supplier metrics.
  • Support Scout Supplier Quality Engineers by assisting in the following activities but not limited to:
    • Review supplier planning, manufacturing and assembly technique execution, and quality control process from development to production.
    • Approve necessary boundary samples, appearance catalogs, etc.
    • Facilitate Scout’s Change Management process for product change requests as needed.
    • Partner with the Supply Chain to ensure issues are raised and resolved in a timely manner.
    • Improve supplier costs, quality, and manufacturability.
    • Monitor and validate supplier manufacturing process development, supplier corrective actions, and launch readiness for new products and design changes.
    • Drive Quality improvements with Engineering, Quality and Operations to ensure Quality KPI’s are met.
    • Perform root cause analyses to ensure high quality of Scout production vehicles through fast response methodologies.
    • Work to mitigate warranty claims with suppliers to drive closure and resolution of issues with the cross-functional groups

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina. 
  • The responsibilities of this role require daily attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company.
  • Travel required: 25% to 40% of the time. Domestic travel required; may include international travel. Valid driver's license and passport required.

  • Education/Certifications: A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical / Vehicle / Industrial) or a related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Years of Experience required in type of role: 3 years of experience in a quality role preferably in an automotive environment
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to execute Project Management techniques.
  • Strategic, entrepreneurial mindset with a strong focus on goal-driven and results-oriented decision making.
  • Ability to support supplier activities with Supplier Quality Engineers to ensure suppliers can meet customer requirements and expectations.
  • Understanding of safety requirements
  • Technical writing ability using SPC and data analysis as well as an ability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain manner.
  • Technical understanding and knowledge of vehicle development, vehicle production and supply chain management.
  • Operations experience and understanding of the vehicle assembly / functionality as a whole.
  • Knowledge of quality management and methodologies.
  • Experience in the following Quality Systems aspect considered a plus:
    • PPAP/APQP/ VDA processes
    • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspection
    • Understanding of IATF, VDA, ISO, DIN, and regulatory requirements
    • AIAG Core Tools- MSA, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $80,000.00 - $97,500.00

Internal leveling code: IC10
