Overview:
The Failure Analysis Process (FAP) Specialist is responsible for identifying and solving problems related to the paint manufacturing process, ensuring high-quality standards, and optimizing production efficiency. This role involves analyzing process data, troubleshooting issues, designing process improvements, and collaborating with the Quality and production teams to maintain consistent quality and meet product specifications.
What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
Problem Solving & Issue Resolution:
- Lead rapid response to quality concerns on the production floor.
- Analyze quality deviations from quality standards within the General Assembly to determine the solution and elimination of faults to ensure the quality standards of the product and through it the factory indicators and customer satisfaction.
- Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, Kaizen, and Red X to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, maintenance, suppliers) to drive timely and sustainable issue resolution.
- Manage activities to define Quality General Assembly Main KPIs, as well as to take accountability to keep the KPIs on target.
- To ensure that the general assembly quality staff has the correct and enough resources (facilities, tools, training, etc.) to perform their duties and assure the quality requirements of the vehicle.
Regulatory Audits – Quality Management System
- Development, document, and maintain written quality standards and projects including the corresponding specifications or general conditions for the general assembly.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards, including VDA standards, and environmental regulations related to general assembly.
- Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, test results, process audits, and written quality standards.
- Support the preparation and execution of audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and VDA requirements.
- To assure that the vehicle homologation requirements of the vehicle are on compliance.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to define specifications and ensure adherence to process standards.
- Provide technical support to production teams to ensure smooth operations and troubleshooting of process-related challenges.
- Coordinate with suppliers to address technical issues related to ensure that materials/process meet specifications.
Training & Knowledge Sharing:
- Train production and quality teams on new process improvements, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices.
- Provide process improvements to continuously improve overall production efficiency.
- Lead and provide training and guidance to general assembly staff on quality standards and techniques with adherence to VDA requirements.
Safety & Compliance:
- Develop and implement procedures to minimize plant waste
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina, United States.
- The responsibilities of this role require daily attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Education/Certifications: A Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field preferred.
- Years of Experience required in type of role: 5-7 years of experience in automotive production and quality control concepts or a related field, including hands-on experience with general assembly product and processes. Proven experience with VDA standards is essential.
- Desired experience on launching Greenfield or Brownfield plant.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive processes, products, and materials, including familiarity with assembly tools, equipment, and best practices in the general assembly processes.
- Excellent writing skills for developing clear and comprehensive quality standards and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong self-responsibility, planning, and organizational skills, able to perform multi-tasks within set time frames, and Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Hands-on experience with electrical systems and mechanical assembly techniques.
- Production standard understanding and derivation of the effects on processes, equipment and product.
- Customer orientated skills, as well as attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $95,000.00 - $120,000.00
Internal leveling code: IC9
