Overview
The Specialist Material Planner is responsible for going life with new suppliers. He will collaborate with the suppliers and together establish a strong supply chain, ensure there is enough material at our production plants and will report to the Manager, Material Planning.
What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Collaborate in developing, designing and implementing planning concepts and projects for material planning.
- Responsibility for the entire process from the supplier to the customer's handover location related to the range of parts and disposition of production materials and equipment that is determined by low safety stock and a high procurement risk and/or has high value.
- Early identification of potential risks in the supply chain. Active development and cross-departmental alignment and follow up of countermeasures as part of the bottleneck control including checking the parts inventory.
- Clarification and sustainable elimination of problems of the JIT process. (e.g., coordination and responsible monitoring of the accuracy and stability of IT processes).
- Establish ongoing, constructive and cooperative communication with the suppliers.
- Develop, edit, monitor and optimize the material flow and delivery program and the production programs with the suppliers.
- Steer and monitor material flow from suppliers to production line, analyze requirements and identify bottlenecks.
- Develop and initiate emergency strategies in the event of supply bottlenecks to plan and agree with internal and external Stakeholder the emergency procedure for quick communication and decision making in case of material shortages.
- Collaborate with Purchasing department to establish cross-departmental procedures to ensure parts on time based on supplier production capacity and production demand considering also quality requirements even under changing conditions like model changes or new car launches.
- Plan and optimize internal and external processes for securing a strong supply chain in all production areas (digitalization and reduction of CO²).
- Support internal and external resources for planning, executing and optimizing of all logistics responsibilities concerning production material flow.
- Establish and agree with related Stakeholder the process related to the introduction of Parts Technical modification.
- Coordination of run in & out parts (e.g. technical changes) to ensure the supply chain and capacity and to avoid cost for obsolete Material.
- Assumption of special tasks corresponding to the skills and duties of the job holder.
- This Role is carried out responsibly in factual cooperative collaboration with supervisors, employees, involved and affected departments - in compliance with existing guidelines, standards and regulations.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, South Carolina.
- This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- 4+ years of professional experience in automotive production and logistics (e.g., inbound/outbound logistics, supplier management, container management, JIT/JIS).
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics or related fields. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience in automotive logistics supplier management focused of JIS Processes desirable.
- Strong technical skills in networking, hardware, and software systems as well as process design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and communication skills.
- Ability to independently work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $95,000.00 - $120,000.00
Internal leveling code: IC9
