Flex Veterinary Technician
Supporting care across our Lincoln Park, West Loop, Old Orchard, and Wheaton locations
Scout Veterinary Urgent Care is growing, and we’re looking for a Flex Veterinary Technician to support our teams across multiple locations. This role is built for someone who’s clinically confident, adaptable, and motivated by helping both patients and teammates—wherever they’re needed most. The schedule for this role is given one month in advance, so you’ll always know when you’re working, but your location may vary shift to shift.
We work in fast-paced, urgent care environments where teamwork matters and communication is everything. You’ll step into different clinics, support patient flow, and help deliver thoughtful, high-quality care to pets and their people.
What you’ll do:
- Perform technical procedures including radiology, venipuncture, catheter placement, sedation monitoring, and in-house lab work
- Assist with triage, patient stabilization, and urgent care treatments
- Administer medications under veterinarian supervision
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners, including discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate medical records and support digital documentation
- Jump in where needed to support team flow across locations
What we’re looking for:
- 3+ years of experience in a veterinary clinical setting (preferred)
- Strong technical skills and comfort in urgent or emergent cases
- Calm, detail-oriented, and collaborative under pressure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to travel between locations
- CVT licensure and emergency/urgent care experience (preferred)
Why this role matters:
Our Flex Technicians help keep care moving—supporting multiple teams, easing busy shifts, and making sure pets get timely, thoughtful attention. It’s a role with real impact, every single day.
Compensation & Benefits:
We offer the benefits you’d expect—and a few that make the day-to-day better.
- $28 – 33/hour
- Monthly travel stipend
- Professional development opportunities
- CE: if it moves your medicine forward, we’re in!
- Uniform allowance
- 401(k) with match after 90 days
- Paid parental leave
