Seaport Therapeutics is seeking an outstanding synthetic medicinal chemist to take a key role in advancing preclinical discovery in its Glyph™ technology platform. The scientist will be responsible for the design, synthesis and characterization of novel lipid prodrugs as part of our Glyph prodrug platform.   Some of the more critical responsibilities will include:

  • Design of new prodrugs based on analysis of existing and newly generated data
  • Planning and implementation of synthetic routes to new prodrugs
  • Managing CRO-based discovery chemistry and discovery process chemistry teams
  • Coordinate the planning, execution, and management of workflows for in vitro and in vivo assessment of new prodrugs
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, presenting findings with scientific insights to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Execute research projects independently, and ensure that projects support current company goals
  • Actively participate in project team meetings, and contribute to reports, scientific publications, patent applications, and regulatory filings

Experience

  • PhD. in synthetic organic chemistry (or equivalent) + 5-8 years industry experience within a biotech or pharmaceutical organization
  • A published record of scientific achievement from the lab demonstrated with peer-reviewed publications, and/or patent inventorship
  • Prior experience with managing CRO-based synthesis is required
  • Experience with lipid chemistry, prodrug chemistry, bioconjugation or ADC chemistry is desirable
  • Familiarity with ADME/pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics in a drug discovery setting is valued
  • Highly motivated and results driven individual with a passion for working in a fast-paced and evolving organization
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and partnering skills
  • Excellent cross-disciplinary skills in communicating scientific ideas to non-scientist stakeholders to foster collaboration and deliverable-based teamwork
  • Startup experience is highly valued. Ability to adjust rapidly to changing scientific priorities and technologies
  • Ability to work onsite in Boston at least 3-4 days per week
