POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the daily sports medicine operations for Seattle Reign FC. This includes but is not limited to first aid/emergency care, evaluation and assessment of all injuries/illnesses, application of appropriate modalities/rehabilitation programs, and collaboration on injury prevention programs in coordination with the Head Athletic Trainer. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work closely within a multidisciplinary team to collaborate on athlete wellbeing and to ensure the health and safety of players. This includes the Head Athletic Trainer, Team Physician(s), (CMO), Medical Director, Physical Therapist, Massage Therapists, Chiropractor and Performance staff.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will attend all training sessions, scrimmages, home and away games, as determined by the Head Athletic Trainer and Medical Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer:
DAILY OPERATIONS:
- Provide comprehensive healthcare management for players, including first aid, emergency care, injury evaluation, rehabilitation, prevention programs, and medical referrals.
- Administer appropriate treatment (i.e manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, passive modalities, etc.) as devised through the rehabilitation plan.
- Assist with home game set up, including hydration, sideline setup, and emergency equipment placement.
- Assist the daily setup and teardown of training sessions and scrimmages.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
- Maintain and document player health records in the league provided electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Ensure the athletic training room and clinic are safe, clean, and organized.
- Communicate with visiting teams and ensure their needs are met while in market.
- Maintain current and accurate inventory.
- Organize and schedule independent contractors as needed.
COMPLIANCE AND PROTOCOLS:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards for bloodborne pathogens.
- Assist in organizing physical examinations as required by league regulations.
- Adhere to all League medical policies and protocols.
- Attend League-mandated activities, meetings, and programs as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years as a certified athletic trainer, including experience with elite-level athletes; soccer-specific experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field (required); master's degree or higher (preferred).
- Certified Athletic Trainer/Therapist by NATA BOC (or CATA), in good standing.
- Washington State Department of Health License in Athletic Training.
- Current CPR/AED certification for healthcare providers.
- Professional liability insurance coverage.
- Preferred certifications: CSCS, PES, LMT, and/or NREMT.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards for bloodborne pathogens and workplace safety.
- Familiarity with League regulations regarding player health and safety protocols.
- Experience providing player education on injury prevention, nutrition, and recovery best practices.
- Team-oriented, thriving in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
- Professional demeanor, punctuality, and reliability.
- Willingness to assist with routine tasks as needed.
- Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills are a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This is an in-person position working from Starfire Sports Complex and Lumen Field.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must reside within Washington state upon date of hire.
- Must be able to facilitate own local travel. Occasional out-of-town travel will be required.
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
- Responsibilities include regular work outdoors and may require standing on your feet for long periods of time, as well as some lifting of up to 20 pounds.

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000. Base pay at time of offer will take into account job-related knowledge, skills and experience required for the role, internal equity and market.
