RATE: $60–$100/hour fees                               

 

SUMMARY

Seattle Sounders FC is seeking a vendor/contractor to provide independent expert performance nutrition consulting services. The vendor/contractor will help shape and advance the club’s nutrition strategies, protocols, and culture. This role is a professional services engagement, not an employment relationship. The vendor/contractor will retain full control over how services are delivered and will operate independently, managing their own business operations, tools, and resources. Vendors/contractors are responsible for their own invoicing, taxes, insurance, licensing, and certifications.

 

SCOPE OF SERVICES

The vendor/contractor will:

  • Provide consultation to refine and enhance the club’s nutrition systems and processes.
  • Develop and implement advanced nutrition protocols to optimize player recovery, endurance, and performance.
  • Offer expert recommendations on the latest research and trends in sports nutrition.
  • Assess dietary habits, body composition, and energy balance to inform individualized nutrition strategies.
  • Provide tailored meal plan guidance and supplement recommendations based on performance goals and medical considerations.
  • Deliver strategic recommendations during training, travel, and competitions to optimize fueling and recovery.
  • Partner with staff to align nutrition strategies with broader performance objectives.
  • Advise on meal planning and nutrient-dense menu creation for training sessions, games, and travel.
  • Offer consultation to promote consistent nutrition practices across the Tacoma Defiance and Academy teams.
  • Provide guidance on food and supplement procurement and inventory management.

The vendor/contractor retains full discretion over the methods, tools, and resources used to fulfill these services, provided they align with agreed-upon deliverables.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Required:  Personnel providing services pursuant to this contract must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical nutrition, food and nutrition, food science, sports nutrition or related expertise required
  • Registered Dietitian credential with licensure in WA State required.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Sports Dietitian within a professional, private, or collegiate program
  • ISAK Accredited
  • Ability to accurately measure and assess body composition
  • Knowledge of food service quality and safety practices
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and counseling skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and record keeping abilities

 

Preferred:   Personnel providing services are preferred who have:

  • Master's degree in nutrition, food science, or exercise physiology preferred
  • Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics preferred
  • Multilingual (English/Spanish/Portuguese/French).
  • Experience preparing food in a professional kitchen.

 

VENDOR/CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

  • The vendor/contractor will provide their own tools, materials, and professional liability insurance.
  • Vendor/contractor must maintain all required certifications and business licenses, and comply with federal and state regulations. Such responsibility is solely the vendor/contractor’s.
  • Services will be delivered independently and on an as-needed basis, with schedules determined through mutual agreement.
  • Personnel providing services must be eligible to work in the U.S. and reside in Washington State.
  • No benefits, including health insurance, retirement contributions, or paid leave, are provided as part of this engagement.
  • Vendor/contractor must provide proof of all required business licenses and registration with the Washington Department of Revenue.

 

COMPLIANCE STATEMENT

The vendor/contractor will operate as a separate business entity, retaining full control over how services are performed and assuming responsibility for their own business operations, including taxes, invoicing, licensing, and insurance.
