POSITION SUMMARY
Seattle Sounders FC and Reign FC are seeking a strategic and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial vision and strategy for both clubs and our growing sports and entertainment enterprise. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will oversee all aspects of financial management, ensuring sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and long-term financial health. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with deep financial expertise, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to navigate the complexities of the sports industry while aligning with the organization’s vision and business objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and execute long-term financial strategies to drive sustainable growth and financial stability.
- Provide strategic financial insights to ownership and executive leadership, influencing key business decisions.
- Align financial objectives with the clubs’ mission, growth initiatives, and competitive positioning in the sports industry.
- Foster strong relationships with banks, investors, partners, and league officials to align financial strategy with business opportunities.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead financial planning & analysis, ensuring precise forecasting, effective budget management, and robust financial modeling to support strategic objectives.
- Oversee annual and multi-year budgeting processes, balancing revenue growth with fiscal discipline.
- Establish accountability measures and conduct regular budget reviews to monitor financial performance and facilitate timely adjustments.
Revenue & Cost Optimization:
- Identify and execute revenue growth strategies across revenue streams.
- Optimize cost structures, ensuring efficient resource allocation without compromising operational effectiveness.
- Oversee capital investment projects, ensuring financial viability and risk mitigation.
Compliance, Risk Management & Governance:
- Ensure full compliance with MLS, NWSL, and league financial regulations, as well as all legal and tax requirements.
- Establish strong internal controls, audit processes, and financial governance frameworks.
- Assess and mitigate financial risks, ensuring long-term organizational resilience.
Accounting, Treasury & Financial Reporting:
- Oversee financial reporting, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and timely compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
- Manage cash flow, treasury functions, and capital planning, ensuring financial liquidity and stability.
- Provide key financial insights to the board, investors, and ownership group.
Talent & Team Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
- Implement best practices in financial management, leadership development, and succession planning.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience as a CFO or senior financial executive in a sports, entertainment, or complex business environment.
- Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA CFA, MBA preferred.
- Expertise in financial strategy, planning, budgeting, and operational efficiency.
- Strong understanding of — or the ability to rapidly develop expertise in — league financial regulations, sponsorship structures, and revenue-sharing models.
- Experience in capital investment planning, risk management, and financial governance.
- Demonstrated ability to build a high performing values-aligned team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced high-performing environment
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, influencing financial and non-financial leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to drive organizational growth, financial transformation, and strategic decision-making.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This role requires regular on-site presence at our Headquarters & Training Facility in Renton, WA.
- Employee must reside within Washington state upon date of hire.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to facilitate own local travel.
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

The annual salary range for this position is $250,000 - $350,000, with eligibility for performance-based bonus. The base salary at the time of offer will consider factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity and current market conditions.
