POSITION SUMMARY
Seattle Sounders FC is seeking a Part-Time Data Analyst for a temporary 3 month duration to support our Soccer Operations team. This opportunity is ideal for an early-career professional with a strong interest in data analytics, performance metrics, and the beautiful game. If you’re passionate about uncovering insights from data and telling compelling stories, this role offers a mix of pre-set projects and open-ended data exploration.
The schedule will be based on the selected candidate’s availability, with up to 25 hours of work per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute pre-set analytics projects using soccer performance and tracking data.
- Conduct open-ended explorations to uncover interesting patterns, trends, or actionable insights.
- Create clear and compelling visualizations and dashboards using Python and/or Tableau.
- Translate data findings into simple, impactful stories for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with soccer operations staff to ensure data outputs align with team needs.
- Maintain clean, reproducible code and documentation for all analyses.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience working in Python (e.g., pandas, matplotlib, seaborn).
- Ability to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable managing multiple projects at once.
- Experience building dashboards or data visualizations in Tableau.
- Familiarity with data storytelling techniques and communicating findings to non-technical audiences preferred.
- Knowledge of and passion for soccer, especially player statistics, tactics, and game dynamics a plus.
- Experience working with sports data a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This is an in-person position working from our Headquarters & Training Facility in Renton WA.
- Must reside within Washington state upon date of hire.
- Must be able to facilitate own local travel.
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
