The Role:
The Senior Manager, Business Development, plays a key role in driving Second Harvest’s revenue growth by developing new corporate partnerships across all industry sectors. This role is focused on identifying, cultivating, and securing new sources of philanthropic and partnership revenue to support Second Harvest’s mission, with an annual new-business revenue target of $400,000+.
Your Impact:
1. New Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Support new business development efforts across all industry sectors, identifying, qualifying, and securing, new, high value corporate partnerships.
- Build and manage a robust national prospect pipeline focused on philanthropic giving, sponsorships, cause marketing, and strategic partnerships.
- Achieve and annual new business target of $400,000+ for general funding, with a strong emphasis on multi-year partnerships.
- Conduct proactive outreach, including cold and warm prospecting, discovery meetings, and tailored follow-up strategies.
- Develop and deliver compelling partnership proposals in the form of pitch decks and formal written proposals, that align corporate priorities with Second Harvest’s mission, programs, and impact.
2. Corporate Partnership Strategy & Activation:
- Design customized partnership opportunities, including campaign sponsorships, program funding, research sponsorship, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure partnership offerings are feasible, impactful, and aligned with organization priorities.
- Support the negotiation and closing of partnership agreements, ensuring clarity on deliverables, recognition, and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to grow initial partnerships into longer-term or expanded engagements.
3. Cross-Functional collaboration & Representation:
- Work closely with Director of Corporate Partnerships and the Corporate Partnerships team to ensure alignment on strategy, messaging, and pipeline management.
- Collaborate with marketing and Communications to support partner recognition, storytelling, and co-branded initiatives.
- Represent Second Harvest at national conferences, industry events, and networking opportunities to expand visibility and generate new leads.
- Act as a brand ambassador, clearly articulating Second Harvest’s mission, vision, and impact to prospective partners.
4. Performance Tracking & Reporting:
- Track all prospecting activity, pipeline development, and revenue performance using Raiser’s Edge
- Maintain accurate forecasting and reporting on new business activity, including conversion rates, and progress to revenue target.
- Providing regular updates to Director of Corporate Partnerships on pipeline health, opportunities, risks, and market trends.
- Use data and insights to continuously refine outreach strategies and partnership approaches.
Who You Are:
- You have 7+ years of experience in business development, corporate fundraising, or partnerships with a strong focus on new business acquisition.
- Passionate about Second Harvest’s mission and committed to “No Waste. No Hunger.”
- You have proven success securing significant corporate gifts or partnerships, ideally with six-figure annual targets.
- Highly motivated by prospecting, relationship-building, and closing new opportunities.
- Strong understanding of corporate philanthropy, CSR, ESG, and social impact partnerships across diverse industries.
- A confident communicator and persuasive presenter, able to engage senior corporate stakeholders.
- Strategic, organized, and results-driven, with the ability to manage a national portfolio and multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
- Data-driven, with strong CRM discipline and forecasting skills.
- Willing and able to travel nationally if required.
