Your Team:

You will be joining Seesaw as a QA Engineer on the Student Learning team, a versatile, US-based full-stack team sitting on the forefront of enhancing the learning experience for students. This team is dedicated to crafting multi-modal creative tools that empower students to complete assignments while assisting teachers in assignment creation and curriculum development for the Seesaw library. Moreover, this team excels in harnessing the power of data, providing comprehensive reporting capabilities for assignments and integrating AI, like ChatGPT, to create engaging assessments.

As a quality champion, you will develop and execute test strategies for new product launches, contribute to our robust automated test suite, and deliver regression-free weekly releases. You will be partnering with engineers, designers, and product managers to define product quality and shape the testing culture of the team. There will also be plenty of opportunities to collaborate cross functionally with QAs from other product areas.

This position will focus on ensuring the quality of the work delivered by the Student Learning team, which builds key features for Seesaw’s interactive tools and data-driven reporting. You will lead testing efforts across both manual and automated tasks. Your role will be crucial to delivering a high quality product for educators, students, and families. An excellent candidate understands the intricacies of our customers’ use cases and translates them into effective test plans, takes pride in delivering the highest quality work, and advocates for the best experience on behalf of our users. You are able to strike a balance between manual and automated testing; leveraging automation for the most critical flows to reduce regressions and exercising the creativity in manual exploratory testing. As the complexity of Seesaw’s product continues to grow, you’ll use your expert knowledge of testing to foster best QA practices, and continually improve the quality and efficacy of our releases.

You will also play a central role in owning and implementing the quality strategy for your team’s deliverables. This includes creating comprehensive test plans, leading test sessions, automating tests,  and triaging any issues that arise during testing. You will work closely with the team to ensure critical issues are prioritized and resolved quickly.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the overall quality of the products delivered by the Student Learning team by driving all testing activities for small and large scale features from inception to launch. This entails developing and executing test plans across mobile and web platforms in a timely manner, organizing testing sessions, coordinating the testing schedule with the team, and leading triage for defects.
  • Work cross-functionally with other QAs to identify testing dependencies and ensure appropriate test coverage on overlapping areas.
  • Create, execute, and maintain our suite of end-to-end automated tests in Cypress. Partner with engineers to increase test coverage, particularly for repetitive or high-risk flows.
  • Perform smoke testing for the product to ensure quality before major releases and during feature cutovers to the beta branch.
  • Investigate and escalate customer-reported and product bugs. Debug the root cause of issues through researching and asking insightful/critical questions.
  • Triaging bugs, prioritizing them based on severity, and ensuring critical issues are addressed quickly is a key part of this role.
  • Become the subject matter expert on the Student Learning team’s product area and be a go-to resource for testing-related questions and best practices.

Your Requirements:

  • 3+ years of manual and automated testing experience across multiple platforms such as web and mobile (iOS & Android).
  • Proficiency in one or more test automation frameworks, such as Cypress (preferred), Playwright, or Selenium.
  • Direct experience in developing, executing test plans and test cases for applications with multiple-user roles; replicating and reporting bugs for complex features; and testing different parts of the app.
  • Strong product quality sense with a focus on user experience
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and problem-solving skills, with a curiosity to self-seek answers and investigate tricky product bugs.
  • A strong attention to detail, with the ability to anticipate potential issues from the user's perspective and prevent them from happening.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify issues and share creative solutions
  • Ability to accommodate working hours that overlap with U.S. time zones, with exact hours to be determined (e.g., 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM Jordan Time).

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with mobile-specific testing (i.e., testing features that require access to device storage, mic, camera, etc.) is a plus.
  • Coding skills, especially in automations and scripting to optimize testing processes.
  • A background in ed-tech or familiarity with educational products is a plus, especially understanding the unique challenges and needs of educators, students, and families in the digital learning environment.
