Self Financial is looking for a Senior Scrum Master to support the Engineering teams to be a servant leader, building and leading successful scrum teams to deliver technology products and services.

What would you be doing? Working cross functionally with Program, Engineering, IT, Product, Compliance, and more this candidate will:

  • Perform the role of Scrum Master for one or more teams, leading multiple, simultaneous initiatives
  • Practice the core Agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, accountability, and practice continuous improvement
  • Facilitates Scrum ceremonies i.e., Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Demos/Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives
  • Helps the team define norms/agreements, like a Definition of Ready and Definition of Done, and enforces the agreements
  • Ensures the team has a healthy product and Sprint backlog (in collaboration with the PO
  • Acts as an Agile Coach, promoting and coaching the Agile mindset and principles, empowering the team to become self-managing and fulfill their cross-functional potential
  • Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress
  • Provide status reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs), schedule, resources, and milestone delivery
  • Facilitates dependency management/risk management/impediment removal for the team
  • Work closely with Product and Program Management to manage and deliver key initiatives
  • Coach and mentor in Scrum and Agile process

What you would bring: 

  • 5+ years practicing Scrum in a software business
  • Strong Communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple departments
  • Self-starter, self-driver; bring expertise to the table to drive process improvements backed by data
  • Strong knowledge of agile principles and techniques (ex. Scrum / XP / Kanban) and scaled agile frameworks such as the Scaled Agile Framework for the Enterprise (SAFe)
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor
  • Excellent repertoire of team building activities and collaborative leadership
  • Skilled at optimization of teams and processes
  • Proficient in JIRA
  • Proven track record of assisting the Product Owner and Development Team in delivering business value
  • Experience in identification and resolution of organizational impediments that impact team maturity and performance
  • Enables the team to become high performing through collaboration and a relentless focus on continuous improvement including cross-skilling across the team
  • Ability to facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution across teams, stakeholders, and executives, including external teams, business partners, and other Agile Release Trains/programs
  • Change and Release Management experience and knowledge
  • Ability to influence and guide business and technology leaders on changes that enable Agility
  • Experience in facilitating significant improvements to the operating model and the end-to-end delivery process
  • Experience in Kanban also, a plus
  • Ability to analyze and think quickly to resolve conflict
  • Experience in dealing with ambiguity in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Motivated and a hands-on team player, persistent, and results oriented
  • Able to consistently meet deadlines and self-manage through shifting priorities and demands
  • High level of positive energy, enthusiasm, and self-motivation

Tools & Systems:

  • Atlassian Enterprise Suite (Jira, Jira Service Desk, Confluence, etc.)
  • G-Suite & Slack (or similar communication platforms)

Base salary range: $126,000 - $140,000 annually.  Individual pay is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and other job-related reasons.
