About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to design, implement, maintain, and secure our databases. The ideal candidate will ensure data integrity, optimize performance, manage backups, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with developers to enhance data access and security.
What you will do:
- Work with developers to design database schemas that align with business requirements.
- Install, configure, and upgrade database software.
- Create and maintain essential database objects (tables, views, stored procedures, functions).
- Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Implement backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss.
- Develop data archiving and purging policies to manage storage efficiently.
- Define and enforce database security policies, including user access controls and encryption.
- Monitor and address potential security threats to ensure data protection.
- Diagnose and resolve database issues, such as corruption, slow queries, or connectivity errors.
- Provide technical support to developers and end-users regarding database queries and access.
- Monitor database usage and anticipate future scaling needs.
- Perform database migrations to new hardware or software platforms as required.
What you will bring:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with expertise in AWS-based database technologies.
- Proficiency in SQL and database administration tools (especially AWS RDS Postgres, MySQL, and AWS Redshift).
- Strong understanding of Linux-based operating systems and network infrastructure.
- Experience in database performance tuning and query optimization.
- Ability to design and implement efficient database schemas based on business needs.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Effective communication and collaboration with developers, IT teams, and business stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Base salary range: $84,000 - $135,000 annually. Individual pay is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and other job-related reasons.
