About the rule:
As Self’s Head of Community you’ll be the ultimate advocate for our customers and a primary voice of our brand representing us in the media, leading panels at events and in forging relationships. You’ll work collaboratively with the PR, content and social teams to craft pitches and scripts and produce video, social and blog content. You’ll be a relationship builder to our community, managing relationships with our customers, nonprofits, partners and other key stakeholders. You’re charismatic and will join Self with a passion for financial education and advocating for financial access. You may be an influencer, a community manager, a public relations manager, a financial coach or all of those things.
What you will do:
- Act as a Self ambassador and key spokesperson, delivering the company’s mission and representing our customers internally and externally
- Serve as the primary consumer spokesperson for press interviews; participate in regular media interviews including but not limited to events, podcasts, TV opportunities and written commentary; support Self’s media relations strategy by influencing pitch ideas
- Inform and produce educational content, and lead initiatives internally and externally that promote financial wellness
- Build and manage relationships with Self’s community including customers, nonprofit partners, and other key stakeholders
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to develop a strategy for current and new community partners
- Attend events and activities and lead speaking opportunities to represent the company and build strong relationships with key community members
- Assist in organizing events to boost brand awareness
- Help manage our corporate social responsibility program
- Lead initiative to gather stories from customers and partners to inform and help develop content that builds the brand and supports company objectives
- Coordinate with marketing, communications and product teams to develop and disseminate messaging and content
- Embed Community principles across internal teams - collaborate with and influence them to incorporate community elements into their programs and growth strategies
Who you are:
- A passion for helping others create financial resilience (Bonus points if you’re a credit or financial coach or personal finance certifications or accreditations. If not, we will pay for training)
- Amazing communication skills and the ability to make more complex information easily digestible
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- An extreme level of comfort in public speaking and being interviewed. Past experience with the media is preferred, but not required (we’ll train you!)
- Experience drafting and distributing various communications that promote the company
- Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, growth environment
- Degree and/or relevant professional experience in field relevant to the scope of work
- Ability to work cross-functionally but independently
- Comfortable with travel (up to 25% of the time)
Base salary range: $ 99,000-133,000 annually. Individual pay is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and other job-related reasons.
