Talent Acquisition Manager

Austin, TX

Self Financial is a venture-backed, high-growth FinTech company with a mission to increase economic inclusion and financial resilience by empowering people to build credit and build savings.

We're looking for people who share our passion and are driven to tackle challenges, find solutions and make the financial space better for the communities we serve.

Our team is passionate about challenging the status quo of the credit industry by providing people accessible tools to take control of their credit. Executing on our mission requires deep collaboration across our teams to ensure our products reach the people who can benefit from them the most, particularly the 100 million+ Americans who have no or low credit.

About the role

Location: Austin, TX - in office 3 days a week (Tues - Thurs)

We're looking for a Talent Acquisition Manager to own and elevate our recruiting function from the ground up. This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution - you'll shape how we attract, evaluate, and welcome talent, while also rolling up your sleeves to manage day-to-day recruiting operations. You'll be a core member of our People & Culture team, partnering closely with hiring managers across the business and building the foundation for our future hiring needs. If you love the idea of joining a small, close-knit team where your work has visible, immediate impact, and you're excited to grow into new responsibilities as we scale - this role is for you.

What you’ll do

  • Own the full recruitment lifecycle end-to-end from intake and sourcing through offer and handoff to onboarding — ensuring a smooth, exciting experience for every candidate
  • Develop and execute proactive, strategic sourcing plans to build strong talent pipelines, including for technical and specialized roles
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand team needs, define role requirements, and align on hiring strategy
  • Manage and optimize our recruiting tech stack (Greenhouse, LinkedIn, Built In, Glassdoor, HackerRank, Checkr), and evaluate additional tools to improve the recruiter and new hire experience
  • Shape and strengthen our employer branding to attract top talent in a competitive market
  • Design and continuously improve our hiring processes, interview frameworks, and candidate experience
  • Ensure a seamless, well-coordinated handoff from recruiting to onboarding for new hires
  • Take on People & Culture projects beyond recruiting as needed, contributing to broader team initiatives
  • Build scalable hiring processes and plans in anticipation of future roles and growth

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of experience in talent acquisition, with a proven track record of managing full-cycle recruiting
  • Technical recruiting experience — comfort sourcing and evaluating candidates for engineering or other technical roles
  • Strong knowledge of recruiting best practices, sourcing techniques, and interviewing methods
  • Experience with vendor management and optimizing recruiting tools and processes
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to partner effectively with hiring managers across departments
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to provide insights and data-driven recommendations
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfort and curiosity with AI tools — we're an AI-forward company and encourage using AI to work smarter across recruiting and day-to-day tasks
  • Openness and enthusiasm for taking on additional People & Culture projects and evolving responsibilities
  • Excitement about working within a small, close-knit team where collaboration and adaptability matter
  • Based in Austin, TX or willing to relocate and work in-office Tuesday through Thursday

Base salary range: $110,000 - $140,000 annually.  Individual pay is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and other job-related reasons.

Benefits & Perks

  • Generous health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Employer-paid benefits including life, disability, and cost-containment resources
  • Gym membership options through ClassPass or monthly reimbursement
  • Education reimbursement program
  • Paid parental leave
  • Relocation bonus to move to Austin
  • Referral program
  • Company equity in the form of stock options
