About this Role

Semafor is seeking an experienced media strategist and operator to design and execute a comprehensive media program for a five-day global convening of CEOs, government officials, and heads of state. Responsibilities include mapping broadcast infrastructure, managing media booking systems for 450+ speakers and blue-chip partners, coordinating credentialing and access strategy, and liaising with network producers to maximize coverage. Ideal candidates have deep experience as TV producers, political convention media directors, presidential advance/media operations leads, or major event media leads.  Strong preference for candidates with WEF, G7/G20, or similar high-stakes event experience. 

While this is a remote role, there is an expectation of on-site staffing and participation at Semafor’s flagship tentpole event in April 2026 in Washington, DC. Preference to candidates based in Washington DC.  

Your Responsibilities

  • WIth oversight and strategic guidance from the Head of Global Communications- design and oversee comprehensive external media program for five-day, multi-pronged convening of top global CEOs, government officials, and heads of state. 
  • Map out physical spaces for media production, including broadcast positions, stand-up locations, media filing centers, and technical infrastructure
  • Develop and execute media booking systems to facilitate external media access for 300+ global business leaders and speakers
  • Coordinate with event production and data teams for press credentialing and manage media access protocols for high-level principals
  • Lead advance operations for media events, including site visits, technical walkthroughs, and logistics coordination
  • Liaise with network producers, assignment editors, and booking teams to maximize coverage opportunities; 
  • Manage on-site media operations during the convening, including real-time troubleshooting and coordination, hiring and managing support staff
  • Create run-of-show documents, media advisories, and technical specifications for broadcast and print outlets
  • Coordinate with security, venue operations, and event production teams to ensure seamless media integration
  • Track media coverage and provide real-time reporting on placements and impact

What Makes You Qualified

  • 7+ years of experience in media relations, broadcast production
  • Proven track record managing media operations for multi-day, high-profile events with VIPs and high level executives 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills and an obsessive attention to details
  • Relationships with national and international media outlets, producers, and booking teams
  • Experience with broadcast logistics, technical production requirements, and live event coordination
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple stakeholders, and adapt to rapidly changing circumstances
  • Willingness to work irregular hours in-person in Washington, D.C. during the week of April 13-17, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience working on World Economic Forum, UN General Assembly, G7/G20 summits, or similar convenings

Salary Range; This is project based $1,500 - $2,000 per week negotiable
