Position Description

The Community Specialist will play an important role on the Brand and Marketing Team, responsible for supporting all social media, communications and public relations efforts. Candidates should have professional experience in social media community management, including content creation, platform publishing, timely engagement with followers, influencer collaboration, measuring results and reporting on performance. The ideal candidate has experience in the luxury or wellness industries and a passion for health and wellbeing in their daily life. In addition, they will excel in managing diverse social media platforms— including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest and LinkedIn— with a nuanced understanding of how to tailor content to each channel’s unique audience and style. 

Beyond social media expertise, candidates should have prior experience in a client-facing role within a PR or communications agency. The Community Specialist will collaborate with the VP of Brand and Marketing and our PR agency of record, ensuring the seamless coordination of media activities, including responding to press inquiries, planning itineraries for hosted media guests, and providing administrative support for internal media initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Report to Brand Narrative Manager for all social media activities, with a dotted line to the VP of Brand and Marketing to support communications and PR efforts 
  • Responsible for internal PR coordination with agencies to support local property operations including but not limited to project management, gathering stakeholder input to inform press communications (menu updates, team bios, etc.), scheduling interviews, and preparing editor briefing sheets for interviews and hosted stays 
  • Analyze media performance using Google Analytics to identify outlets driving high-quality web traffic and engagement 
  • Draft award and conference/event speaker submissions for the corporate office and leadership team 
  • Contribute to editorial and creative calendar planning, as well as pitch theme development 
  • Responsible for day-to-day social media operations, including posting, engaging with comments/direct messages, and identifying appropriate UGC to repost. 
  • Review photo and video content library and propose new posts based on needs 
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of social content calendars, including sourcing image/video, pitching theme ideas, and occasional copy editing 
  • Manage existing influencer relationships and propose new ones 
  • Track all influencer activities from initial reach out through deliverables 
  • Develop quarterly social media analytics reports synthesizing progress against goals. Identify successes and areas for opportunity 
  • Prepare quarterly social media trend reports including top inspirational brand examples and interesting case study examples of new platforms/mediums 
  • Prepare competitor analysis reports to support marketing activities as needed 
  • Coordinate content boosting strategy with agencies and ensure boosting is carried out according to our parameters 
  • Coordinate with partners to create and obtain approvals on collaboration posts and creative 
  • Support all marketing team members in tracking success and measuring progress with key marketing initiatives including but not limited to: PR/communications, social media, website, email marketing, A/B testing projects, etc
  • Leadership – Maintain a positive, upbeat role, promote and exemplify Company values and represents departmental objectives and interests to internal and external customers
  • Customer Service – Follow up on complaints, questions, and concerns; respond to internal/external customer needs in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
  • Teamwork - Develop and promote teamwork and cooperation among co-workers
  • Safety – Comply with established safe work practices and attend to all safety-related training provided or made available by the Company
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • 3-5 years full time professional work experience, preferably at a PR/social media agency 
  • Prior experience at a PR agency in a client-facing role 
  • Prior experience interacting with media/journalists 
  • Prior experience managing Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Pinterest for a brand 
  • Master communicator, ideally with a communications or English degree or supporting certifications 
  • Pulse on current social media trends and ability to adapt them to our brand 
  • Proficient copywriter

Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working with and pitching media for luxury, hospitality and/or wellness brands 
  • Video editing and graphic design proficiency (to support in social asset creation) including familiarity with Canva, Figma and Adobe programs
