LOCATION OF THIS JOB
This is a REMOTE position located in the Greater Boston Area (preferred) or the Northeastern United States.
COMPENSATION
$140,000 - $210,000 / year, Exempt, with a discretionary bonus of up to 15%.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Sensei Ag is looking for a talented Director of Global Environmental Health and Safety to join their team. This person will lead the way in creating a global strategy that prioritizes the well-being of both employees and the environment. Their main focus will be on building a strong safety culture that uses data to guide decision-making and minimize risks.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Develop a Solid EH&S Plan: Create an all-encompassing EH&S strategy that matches our company's vision and makes sure safety and sustainability are key to every part of our operations.
- Work with Senior Leaders: Collaborate closely with top executives to include EH&S goals in business strategies and decision-making processes.
- Create a Strong Framework: Develop a well-rounded EH&S framework filled with policies, procedures, and standards tailored to our greenhouse industry.
- Uniform Guidelines: Make sure our EH&S framework is consistently followed across all US and Canadian operations, while adjusting to regional laws and practices as needed.
- Set Performance Goals: Figure out which key performance indicators (KPIs) we should use to check the effectiveness of our EH&S efforts.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations follow relevant federal, state, and provincial EH&S laws, as well as industry standards.
- Internal and External Audits: Oversee internal and external EH&S inspections, and deal with any compliance issues right away.
- Regular Reporting: Prepare and send required EH&S reports to regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
- Team Building: Build, guide, and mentor an exceptional EH&S team that helps professionals grow and become skilled.
- Collaborating with Other Departments: Work with other departments (like Operations, HR, and Legal) to smoothly integrate EH&S practices into all parts of the business.
- Emergency Preparedness: Create and keep up-to-date emergency response plans and make sure all employees are trained and aware of procedures.
- EH&S Training: Create and teach in-depth EH&S training programs that educate employees on best practices, safe procedures, and sustainability initiatives.
- Learning and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest EH&S trends, technologies, and regulations to boost our company's EH&S knowledge base.
- Embracing New Ideas: Put innovative EH&S solutions and technologies into practice to enhance our EH&S abilities.
- Earn Accreditations: Create a path to get accredited for ISO14001 and ISO45001 with a full implementation of EHS management systems.
SKILLS and EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED
- Ten (10) years in EH&S roles with progressive leadership responsibilities, preferably within the greenhouse, agriculture, or related industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team.
- Demonstrated ability to create and execute strategic plans.
- Demonstrated expertise and application of relevant regulations, codes, and legislative requirements:
- Health and Safety Act (Ontario/USA)
- Environmental Protect Agency (USA)
- Canadian Standards Association
- Canadian Center for Occupational Health and Safety
- Environmental Protection Act (CND)
- Demonstrated expertise and application of ISO standards (or related programs.)
- Expert Knowledge of Safety Chain or related document control software.
- Ability to build, work, and maintain relationships across the organization.
Bonus points if you have...
- Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) are preferred.
- Previous work experience in a greenhouse or food manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of ISO14001, ISO45001
- OHSA Certification (US/CAD)
- JHSC Certification
- LOTO Certification
- Confined Space Training
- (Canada) Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or
- (United States) Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
