JOB LOCATION

This is a US REMOTE position (East Coast residents, preferred.)

COMPENSATION

$115,000 - $150,000.00 / year, Exempt, with a discretionary bonus of up to 10%.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Manager of Accounting will play a crucial part in managing our accounting department and will work closely with management and other departments and will have the opportunity to contribute to our company’s vision of merging agriculture and innovation to achieve sustainable farming practices and to grow delicious and fresh fruits and vegetables. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Manage the accounting for company payroll and provide key support to the team on payroll reconciliation. 
  • Manage A/R and A/P functions. 
  • Manage the monthly accounting close process, including but not limited to journal entries, account reconciliations, adjustments, accruals, and flux analysis. 
  • Oversee the preparation of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards. 
  • Timely and accurate filing of federal, state, and local taxes, and coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process. 
  • Develop and improving accounting processes and systems to drive efficiency and best practices. 
  • Establish, implement and administer internal control policies, procedures and processes. 
  • Participate in accounting and system integrations. 
  • Manage, coach, and train accounting team members. 

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in accounting roles of increasing responsibility. 
  • Experience leading teams, business acumen and analytical capabilities. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent. 
  • CPA certificate. 
  • Public Accounting experience (preferably Big 4 or National CPA firms.)
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting standards. 
  • Experience with multicurrency, intercompany, and consolidated accounting. 
  • Strong understanding of inventory and cost accounting. 
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and NetSuite (or similar ERP Solution). 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 
  • Organized, detail oriented, ability to multi-task. 

Bonus points if you have...

  • Experience in manufacturing or agriculture industry. 
  • Experience with Canadian taxation and filing requirements. 
  • Strong leadership abilities, business acumen and analytical capabilities. 
  • Strong time management, organizing, and prioritization skills. 
  • A professional demeanor and a positive attitude. 
  • Experience with Expensify and Tipalti software.
