About the Role

Sezzle is seeking an HR Business Partner to join our People team, reporting directly to the SVP of People Operations. This role will serve as a trusted HR partner to our Technology leadership team (Product, Engineering, and Data Science VPs) while also providing generalist HR support across the organization. Over time, this individual will have the opportunity to shape and expand our HRBP function, helping define how the partnership model scales across the business.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for Technology VPs (Software Engineer, Product, Decision Sciences), holding regular monthly check-ins and supporting all aspects of the employee lifecycle, advising on people strategies to support business goals.
- Provide generalist HR support to employees across the organization, addressing employee relations, performance management, coaching, and engagement needs.
- Partner with the SVP of People to align HR strategies with business goals in a fast-paced, startup-style environment.
- Lead initiatives that strengthen manager effectiveness, employee development, and organizational health.
- You act as an immigration coordinator for day-to-day active US & Canada immigration cases (including PERM, H-1B, L-1), supporting employees, business leaders, and external counsel.
- Partner with Compensation & Benefits and Payroll colleagues to ensure consistency and compliance across HR programs.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries related to HR function.
- Own and maintain compliance records and case documentation.
What We Look For
- 5+ years of experience in an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist role, ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s/advanced degree a plus).
- Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and influence business decisions through people strategies.
- Leadership experience (formal or informal) with a desire to mentor and potentially build out an HRBP team over time.
- Self-starter mindset, comfortable balancing independent ownership with cross-team collaboration.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage sensitive employee matters with discretion.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities.
- Familiarity with immigration processes and employee case coordination a strong advantage.
