You will identify, develop, and close relationships with payment processors, software platforms, fintech providers, technology companies, and private-sector companies that serve government-adjacent use cases, including tax software providers, filing platforms, compliance tools, and identity verification services, that facilitate government-related payment workflows. Your goal is to create new distribution opportunities for Sezzle by embedding our payment solutions into existing experiences across categories such as tax payments, licensing, registration, permitting, compliance, and other government-related services.

This requires a combination of sales instinct, business development experience, payments expertise, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.

Market Development & Strategy

  • Define and execute Sezzle’s go-to-market strategy for the government payments ecosystem
  • Identify target markets, high-potential use cases, and strategic entry points
  • Develop a deep understanding of key players, payment flows, technology providers, and emerging trends
  • Establish Sezzle’s positioning and value proposition within the market

Sales & Business Development

  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through contract signature
  • Identify opportunities to integrate Sezzle into existing government-related payment experiences
  • Develop and manage relationships with executive stakeholders and key decision-makers across the ecosystem
  • Represent Sezzle at industry conferences, trade associations, and partner meetings
  • Identify and remove obstacles that could delay deal execution or partner launch

Market Intelligence & Internal Influence

  • Serve as Sezzle’s internal subject matter expert on the government payments ecosystem
  • Translate partner and market feedback into product, operational, and strategic recommendations, and monitor competitive activity to bring insights back to leadership
  • Partner across Product, Compliance and Legal, Marketing, Finance, and Revenue Operations to launch integrations, unblock deals, and resource the vertical to scale

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, payments, fintech, govtech, or a related field
  • Deep understanding of the government payments ecosystem, the technology platforms, payment providers, software vendors, and intermediaries that facilitate government-related payment experiences
  • Experience working within or selling into government agencies, public-sector organizations, or government contract environments
  • Proven track record in sourcing, negotiating, and closing strategic partnerships or complex sales
  • Experience building new markets, channels, or business initiatives from the ground up
  • Strong relationship management and executive stakeholder skills
  • Highly self-directed and comfortable operating without a playbook in a fast-paced environment
  • AI fluency, you actively use AI tools to accelerate research, improve communication, and make better decisions faster

Preferred

  • Existing relationships with payment processors, software platforms, fintech providers, or technology companies serving government-adjacent payment workflows
  • Experience launching integrations or go-to-market initiatives in complex or regulated environments
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling a new market vertical or category from the ground up
  • Experience leveraging sales technology, analytics, and emerging AI capabilities to drive commercial execution, improve partner outcomes, and provide insights that shape strategic planning, prioritization, and growth initiatives.

Compensation

The total compensation range for the role is $165,000 - $300,000 OTE (including base and variable). Our ranges are very broad to accommodate all types of candidates and encourage growth. Specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on factors such as education, experience, qualifications, and alignment with market data. Exceptional candidates may receive salaries outside of the posted ranges.

Why This Role Matters

Government-related payments represent one of the largest and most underpenetrated opportunities in payments. Millions of consumers make essential payments every year for taxes, licensing, registration, permits, and other government-related services, yet many of these experiences remain outdated and inflexible. This role will define how Sezzle enters and wins in this ecosystem.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
