Health Educator- Bilingual, Contingency Management- Stonewall Project

San Francisco AIDS Foundation (SFAF) envisions a future where health justice is achieved for all people living with or at risk for HIV. Our mission is to promote health, wellness, and social justice for communities most impacted by HIV through sexual health and substance use services, advocacy, and partnership. We need passionate advocates for social change that embody our five key values: Justice, Dignity, Courage, Leadership, and Excellence. 

What is the position? 

Our contingency management programs support a diverse range of clients focusing on underserved BIPOC, lGBTQIA+, and drug using communities. Specifically we aim to help people in those communities who want to stop or reduce their use of stimulants, methamphetamine, and or cocaine. Health Educators in this role support the day-to-day operations of our Contingency Management programs: PROP, PROP for ALL, and PROP Empowerment Programs. In this role you would be a key payer in supporting the program through conducting group facilitation, venue-based outreach, specimen collection, recruitment, linkage, referrals, health education, coaching, data collection, and of course being a kind face to participants in our program.  

What are the main responsibilities?  

  • Conducting participant screenings and intakes to assess client eligibility for program and substance use goals.  
  • Coordinating, developing, and distributing culturally appropriate Contingency Management outreach materials.  
  • Documenting electronic health records that include progress and case management notes, testing results, and referrals in compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.  
  • Maintaining incentive logs, meeting room setup, maintenance, and tear down.  
  • Performing urine screenings, conducting participant harm reduction counseling, and managing Contingency Management program incentives.  

 
Who are we looking for?  

  • 6 months to 2 years of experience with drop-in centers, health engagement, or health education with substance users.  
  • Ability to work effectively while demonstrating cultural humility towards diverse and marginalized groups.  
  • Knowledge around prevention of HIV, Hepatitis A, B, and C, and other sexually transmitted infections.  
  • Sensitivity to clients with physical and psychological disabilities.  
  • Knowledge of harm reduction best practices and technqiues.  
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.  
  • Experience with group facilitation and conflict resolution preferred.  

 
Where is the position located? 

This position is primarily located at 940 Howard Street, San Francisco, however it may occasionally require traveling to other office locations or off-site meetings as required by the job. Role may include evening and weekend coverage. 

 
What we offer? 

Hourly Rate : $31 to $33 Per Hour 

Benefits : SFAF is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package for our full-time employees. We offer combined PTO/Sick Time Off of 24 days for the first two years of employment, 29 days after two years of employment. For retirement we offer a 403(b) Plan and SFAF matches employee contributes (1 to 1) up to 3% of Salary.
