We are seeking a Network Engineer with expertise in networking and security technologies who thrives in challenging environments. Network Engineers will primarily work within Cisco environments across all of SharkNinja’s global on-premises and cloud data centers, as well as SharkNinja’s corporate office locations worldwide.
Their primary responsibilities include maintaining all SharkNinja’s datacenter infrastructure, including network switches, routers, wireless controllers/APs, and security appliances, within SharkNinja’s corporate office locations. The Network Engineering team at SharkNinja is responsible for ensuring the health and stability of the production network that supports SharkNinja’s products, websites as well as corporate office locations. It’s a hybrid role therefore selected candidate is expected to work from our Needham office 2-3 times a week.
Other responsibilities include:
- Design and deploy a comprehensive network infrastructure of diverse sizes.
- Designing and implementing functional LAN/WAN/MPLS networks
- Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
- Mentor team members on technical issues
- Create, oversee, and test security measures (example: access authentication and disaster recovery)
- Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
- Design, configure, and maintain Cisco network and security appliances and hardware, including Catalyst switches, ISR routers, FirePower, FMC, WLC, ISE, DNA, SD-WAN management, and troubleshooting.
- Setup effective monitoring and troubleshoot network performance to ensure minimal downtime and resilience to potential cybersecurity threats.
- Manage IT-Network support tickets and monitor ticket queues for critical or escalated issues.
- Implement security protocols such as firewalls, access controls, and encryption.
- Help team members in network configurations and update documentation and diagrams.
- Collaborate with IT teams to optimize network architecture for scalability.
- Prepare detailed diagrams, use cases, instructional, and test documentation and guides.
- Coordinate with reporting manager, user functional communities, and team members on task priorities and initiatives.
- Conduct meetings, user training sessions, and testing with internal and external clients.
- Stay current with the latest network and security trends, technologies, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
- Industry-related experience as a Network Engineer or Network Administrator
- Professional certification (example: CCNP, CCDP)
- Solid background in network administration and architecture
- In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (example: BGP, OSPF)
- Solid understanding and work experience with switches and wireless controllers.
- Familiarity with access control models and network security like Firewalls, VPN endpoints and ISE.
- Some knowledge of coding languages for scripting (like Python)
- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (example: SolarWinds, LogicMonitor, Cisco Prime)
- Solid understanding of network operating systems (like Cisco IOS)
- Sharp troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently
- Organizational and mentoring skills
Qualifications:
- Proven ability to perform responsibilities in English.
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in network support.
- Ability to resolve escalated issues in a timely fashion.
- Strong experience in performing a variety of activities related to the analysis, installation, and troubleshooting of networking and applications.
