OVERVIEW:

As a Principal Industrial Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Ninja brand through strategic, innovative, and emotionally resonant product design. You will lead high-impact initiatives across the entire product development lifecycle — from early concept generation and consumer insight translation to final implementation for tooling and production. You will set a creative vision, drive best-in-class user-centered design practices, and provide strategic design leadership across multi-disciplinary teams.

This role requires a deep understanding of design excellence, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate complex consumer needs into compelling, manufacturable solutions. You will serve as a mentor and thought leader, helping elevate design quality across the organization and influence product roadmaps at the highest levels.

Ninja Design is a passionate team of Industrial Designers, UI Designers, and CMF Designers developing iconic and category-defining products for the Ninja brand.

Please include your resume and portfolio showcasing end-to-end product development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the industrial design vision across key programs, ensuring seamless integration of form, function, and brand identity.
  • Own and drive the end-to-end design process — from foundational research, design strategy, and concept development through to production implementation.
  • Translate consumer insights into strategic design direction that influences both near-term solutions and long-term innovation pipelines.
  • Generate high-fidelity visual assets including sketches, renderings, and presentation decks that communicate advanced concepts and inspire cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Champion a user-centered design approach while balancing technical, business, and operational constraints.
  • Mentor and elevate the broader design team, providing strategic feedback, design critiques, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Marketing, Product Management, and Executive Leadership to align product vision with business goals.
  • Lead and facilitate brainstorming sessions, cross-functional workshops, and executive design reviews.
  • Advocate for and uphold design excellence throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring the highest standards are met at every stage.
  • Influence the materials strategy, CMF decisions, and production approaches in partnership with Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
  • Stay ahead of market trends, emerging technologies, and consumer behavior shifts to inform design innovation and strategic direction.
  • Represent the design team in leadership forums and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain internal design systems, best practices, and operational tools that promote design consistency and efficiency.

ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in Industrial Design, with a strong track record of leading consumer product development, preferably in small appliances, consumer electronics, or medical devices.
  • Proven leadership experience, including mentoring junior designers and managing complex design programs.
  • Expert-level 2D skills (sketching, Illustrator, Photoshop) and advanced 3D capabilities (SolidWorks or Rhino).
  • Proficient in 3D rendering tools (KeyShot or equivalent) with an exceptional eye for form, CMF, and visual storytelling.
  • Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA principles and an ability to work effectively with Engineering to deliver production-ready designs.
  • Experience bringing multiple high-impact products from concept to market.
  • High degree of autonomy and ability to manage multiple programs with minimal direction.
  • Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills; adept at influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking, systems-level design approach, and the ability to connect design to broader brand and business goals.
  • Passionate advocate for great design and user experience, with a creative and resilient mindset.
