Electrical Engineer Manager

As the Manager of the Electrical Engineering Team, you will play a pivotal, hands-on role in product development, leading design reviews and driving the delivery of high-quality, transformative products. This role is centered on New Product Introductions (NPI), product launches, and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with industry standards while enhancing product functionality and consumer experience.

Responsibilities 

Product Development & NPI

  • Lead hands-on design review, prototyping, and validation of consumer appliance electrical systems, including electronic components, control panels, graphical user interfaces, and mechanism controls.
  • Drive electrical aspects of NPI efforts, ensuring timely, high-quality product launches.
  • Troubleshoot and refine designs to improve performance, reliability, and user experience throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with product design, manufacturing and quality teams to support efficient and reliable production processes, addressing design-to-production challenges.
  • Define test plans, reports and sign-off on all Product Engineering document changes.

Product Safety & Supplier Relationship Management

  • Foster relationships with suppliers of electrical components and assemblies, as well as compliance agencies, to ensure seamless coordination for product safety, reliability, and performance reviews.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and key contact for electrical component and product development teams, facilitating collaboration and driving desired strategic outcomes.
  • Leverage strong business acumen to maintain effective partnerships with suppliers and agencies, balancing cost, quality, and delivery timelines to support organizational goals.
  • Coordinate compliance activities with third-party labs and agencies (e.g., UL, Intertek) for standards such as UL, CSA, FCC, and DOE, ensuring efficient planning and documentation with minimal disruption.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor and inspire a multidisciplinary team of electrical engineers, compliance specialists, and lab technicians.
  • Actively participate in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting, guiding team members and fostering a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering, manufacturing and product development teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel required.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Master’s a plus) and 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
  • Direct hands-on experience in the development of consumer products, especially consumer electronics or appliances, with expertise in prototyping, NPI, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in electrical components, schematics, and specifications for consumer products.
  • Experience with compliance standards (UL, CSA, FCC) and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration in design, engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an office and laboratory environment and requires the ability to operate standard laboratory equipment, office equipment, and keyboards in close proximity to others. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to walk moderate distances in a warehouse/production floor environment.

The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
