Design Release Engineer - Automotive
Overview
The Design Release Engineer (DRE) takes the lead in the Engineering release of the Sharp LCD Modules into the GM Systems, while ensuring the product design theme, cost, quality/reliability and timing targets are met.
The DRE is responsible for resolving design direction and technical issues in a proactive manner both within Sharp and at GM. Reporting to the Sharp Engineering Manager, the DRE works closely with the Program Manager to ensure program milestones are met and part release meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Release parts within the GM system using the ECR process
- Work with Sharp Engineering team in root cause analysis and resolution of defined concerns
- Work with Sharp Engineering team to complete the approval of component validation plans during the development process
- Work with Sharp Engineering team to resolve validation concerns and implement corrective actions
- Responsible for review and approval for release of components in Team Center Engineering (TCe)
- Support vehicle build process and vehicle signoff activities for all prototypes
- Update vehicles with latest production intent components
- Assist with the definition of system and hardware requirements
- Key customer contact for packaging and part release requirements
- Initiate math data transfer into GM system
- Responsible for math and drawing release within Sharp
- Release parts within the General Motors GPDS system, and ensure timely closure of engineering changes, using GM ECR process
- Develop and input Interface Control Documents (ICDs) as required
- Resolve issues on assigned Component Technical Specification sections
- Inputs answers into GM PRTS system
- Support assembly plant or Tier 1 build events as required
- Work with the Program Manager (PM) to co-Facilitate the Product Development Team process and meetings, and co-Facilitate Design Reviews
- Work with the PM to support Sharp developed project plans accordingly
- Work with Engineering and PM to ensure component hardware delivery requirements are met
Position Requirements
- BSME or BSEE required
- Minimum 2 years experience required working in the Automotive Industry
- Knowledge using Unigraphics & Catia V5 as the CAD tool for 2D and 3D math is a plus
- Knowledge of Team Center Engineering (TCe) is desired
- Travel to Asia to support program development and product launch may be required
- Position requires 3 days a week to report into GM in Warren, MI

The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
Compensation Statement
$107,000 - $125,000 USD
