Procurement Supervisor, Indirect
Massillon, OH (Hybrid - Onsite T,W,Th)
Role Contribution Level 4
This role will primarily focus on managing Indirect Procurement categories and providing support for Capital project-related tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, excellent negotiation skills, contract management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments. This role will work internally with Operations and Planning to manage and solve day to day risks and manage supplier relationships ensuring the highest level of quality, cost, and service to Shearer’s plants.
The Procurement Supervisor, Indirect will report into the Director of Procurement, Capital & Indirect.
Your Seat at the Table:
- Indirect Procurement Management: Oversee the procurement of indirect goods and services, including supplies, maintenance and repairs, waste & recycling, professional services, and other Indirect categories. Ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining high-quality standards. Understand and articulate supply/demand, cost drivers, supplier options, market environment, and ensure our sourcing strategies support our current and future needs.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build strong external partnerships to deliver the business objectives and create a competitive advantage. Create and maintain documentation (including but not limited to, continuity plans, supplier segmentation, supplier scorecards).
- MRO Supplier Strategy: Manage Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of supplies. Develop and implement category strategy to promote supplier base consolidation and standardization where possible. Implement regional or national buying strategies and eliminate non-value-add suppliers.
- Data Analysis & Compliance: Analyze procurement data to identify opportunities to enforce compliance with network preferred partners, standardize materials and goods, streamline processes, and achieve cost savings.
- Financial Management: Supports the delivery of the financial targets including but not limited to annual productivity budget, value creation opportunities, and cash flow. Leverages market knowledge, operational insights, cost modelling and data analysis to gain critical insights that drive Sourcing Strategies and continuous improvement activities.
- People Management: Mentor the Procurement Analyst, Indirect. Provide development opportunities, coaching, training, and competency building. The Procurement Analyst reports into the Director but will be a dotted line to the Category Supervisor.
What you Bring to the Table:
- Self-starter with ability to juggle priorities and able to pivot to short deadlines requests in fast paced environment.
- Contract management: Demonstrated experience with redlining contracts and working closely with Legal and Business Owners to negotiate agreements.
- Analytical: Strong analytical background using facts and demonstrate decisions impact to financial plan. Strong experience with Excel (especially pivot tables) a must.
- Solid personal presence with the ability to interact with confidence and credibility at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to analyze and screen suppliers for financial, supply, and service capabilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills. Able to effectively build and manage relationships. Seeks feedback, input, and strives for excellence.
- Translates information and data into recommendations and actions.
- Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of procurement experience in Manufacturing sector with Indirect materials management. Experience in Capital project procurement, travel management, or HR procurement a plus.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain and logistics.
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel.
- ERP systems: Experience using ERP systems required; Microsoft Dynamics 365 is strongly preferred.
