Job Description 

  • The Regional Training Specialist will report to the Director of Regional Training (or Regional Training Manager where assigned) and is responsible for conducting training for both new hires and existing team members as outlined by the Regional Training playbook; this includes but not limited to Pharmacy Liaisons, Patient Support Advocates, Patient Engagement Specialists, Outreach Coordinators, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacists. In addition to facilitating functional and system training for the team, Regional Training Specialists will support ongoing development of team through one-on-one sessions, refresher workshops, and creation of educational material/job aids/presentations. Conduct and participate in quality audits to uphold specific accreditation, payor, and compliance standards as well as ensure consistency across the team. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Host Hospital Systems Training (Week 3) and Shadow Test Drive Training (Week 4) as designed in accordance with the Regional Training calendar for all core and shared/centralized new hires who will be supporting a specific site/Region. 
  • Conduct 30, 60, 90-day audits and shadow sessions on new hires; conduct ongoing audits as needed. 
  • Support ongoing development of team by scheduling one-on-ones, refresher workshops, and creation of educational material/job aids/presentations. 
  • Keep track of training records and performance for individual team members; measure/assess baselines as well as impact of training engagements through knowledge checks and pre-/post-assessments. 
  • Perform calibration audits on MPS, Ops Associates, National Liaisons and/or any other person who conducts audits on behalf of the Region to ensure all teammates are looking at things through the same lens. 
  • Engage and partner with regional leaders and participate in team meetings, discussions, and initiatives to establish “one team” identity. 
  • Develop and refresh written training materials and/or job aids when needed specific to site, initiative, and/or role; perform both gap and quality analyses regularly to ensure materials are current and relevant based on changing factors. 
  • Coordinate and/or support training schedule for new Liaisons, PSAs, PESs, Outreach Coordinators, etc. alongside respective manager; collaborate with team to define the new hire’s roadmap and ensure specific activities/milestones are met and information is passed forward. 
  • Communicate information pertaining to new initiatives, best practices, changes in the way we do things proactively and assess team’s understanding of the material. 
  • Facilitate communication between Corporate Training, Regional Operations, and Shared Services to streamline handoffs between teams and ensure new hire’s training is coordinated. 
  • Assist in identifying gaps in the onboarding and training process, as well as other opportunities to support development and growth of our team. 
  • Provide “Liaison Perspective” training for new Pharmacists and other members of the Shields Business team when requested. 
  • Problem solve and collaborate with other members of the team when schedules, priorities, and needs of the business are not in sync. 
  • Cultivate an inspiring and motivating environment for our team; personalize the experience for all new hires and adopt training styles and approaches that work best for that individual 
  • Facilitate access requests to systems/platforms if needed
  • Other duties as assigned 

Experience/Requirements 

  • We are seeking experienced pharmacy technicians who are state registered as a pharmacy technician. Nationally certified as a CPhT is strongly preferred but not required. Should additional licensure need to be obtained, the applicant will commit to obtaining the required licensure within a mutually agreed upon timeframe. Continued employment is contingent upon meeting these requirements.  
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably with specialty pharmacy experience. Prior training experience is a plus 
  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • Onsite presence when requested by Regional Operations and/or Director of Training; travel to assigned sites as needed 
  • Be a visionary leader who can motivate others and cultivate a creative and passionate culture 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Highly proficient in systems such as MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Power-point), multiple EMR systems (e.g., EPIC, Allscripts, Cerner, Meditech) including functionalities/software built into these systems (e.g., MSOT, Compass Rose), patient management platforms (e.g. TelemetryRx, Therigy) and dispensing systems (e.g. EPIC WAM, QS1, Rx30, Computer Rx) 
  • Broad knowledge of specialty disease states and our business is optimal 
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and proactively react to current trends as well as anticipate future needs 
  • Lead by example and evidence of strong partnership ability 
  • Passion for training, coaching, and mentoring; proven ability to inspire and influence both direct and indirect reports, senior leaders, and other teammates 
  • Organized, strong attention to detail, high integrity, multi-tasker; be nimble, creative, and tenacious in solution development 
  • Energetic, positive, proactive, and outgoing; motivated by an innovative, fast-paced, and demanding environment, and readiness to embrace change as well as feedback 
  • Discretion and confidentiality are essential 

Job Salary 

  • An employee in this position can expect a salary rate between $65,000 and $75,000 plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan if applicable. The actual salary will depend on experience, seniority, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.
