Internship, Software Engineering (AI Team, Summer 2026)

Our 2 month paid Internship Program is designed for motivated students seeking experience in the payment processing and technology industry. You will have the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals, develop essential skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that drive business success. Our interns will have assigned mentors, work onsite at our Shift4 offices, and have the opportunity to complete and present an end-of-assignment project.
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of our AI Strategy & Development team on real-world initiatives
- Contribute to the design and evolution of Shift4's agentic software architecture.
- Develop, test and iterate on AI-enabled solutions using modern tooling
- Perform large-scale data analysis to identify insights and improvement opportunities
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from concept to delivery
- Help maintain and enhance components of our technology stack
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript (Nest.JS, Lit, React.JS)
- Familiarity with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Grok Code etc)
- Understanding of the modern AI landscape (e.g., LLMs, RAG, generative/agentic AI, ML concepts)
- Strong analytical and data-driven thinking skills
- A proactive attitude with a strong desire to learn and contribute
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Fluent in English
- Available June, 2026 to August, 2026
- Available to work onsite, in the office.

The offered salary during Internship program is 1200 Eur Gross/month.
