Role Description: 

ShipBob seeks a DevOps Engineer I skilled in deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft infrastructure. The ideal candidate should be proficient in all facets of Azure DevOps, including project management as well as building and release pipelines. Responsibilities include: 

• Assisting development teams in deploying new infrastructure in alignment with security and quality standards. 
• Creating tools and automation to address both immediate and long-term organizational needs. 
• Ensuring the overall reliability of the system and its resilience against potential interruptions. 

As a DevOps Engineer I, you will be responsible for both constructing and planning infrastructure. You are required to respond to and resolve tickets in accordance with the expected SLA. In managing these tickets, it is imperative that all solutions adhere to security and infrastructure standards and that all actions are transparently communicated with stakeholders. Your objective is to enhance the ShipBob environment by making it cleaner, more secure, and more reliable with each ticket handled. 

This role reports to Manager, DevOps Engineering. 

What you’ll do: 

• Triaging and debugging technical support requests that arrive through the ticketing system to address issues with Engineering infrastructure, while also promoting coding standards and implementing cleaner solutions. 
• Collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams to understand new business needs and conceptualizing those needs into features via Critical Design Reviews. 
• Identifying bottlenecks in the development process and implementing solutions to address them. 
• Pairing and participating in code reviews to encourage the professional and technical growth of those around you. 
• Building out Azure infrastructure in a timely manner. 
• Deploying and managing infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code. 
• Supporting teams during deployments to ensure pipeline success. 
• Managing security standards in our applications and application planning. 
• Other duties/responsibilities as necessary. 

What you’ll bring to the table: 

• Two years of experience in a DevOps Engineer role (or similar role); experience in software development and infrastructure development is a plus. 
• Experience with managing Azure cloud services. 
• Demonstrated experience with Terraform. 
• Solid experience with Azure DevOps and pipeline YAML. 
• Ability to work collaboratively with other departments in the organization. 
• Knowledge of CI/CD principles and deployment strategies. 
• Familiarity with ticketing systems like Jira. 
• Experience with Azure PaaS and implementation troubleshooting. 
• Experience with source control languages and branching strategies. 
• Knowledge of Git. 
• Scripting experience. 
• Understanding of security in both the organization and application development.
