Location: Remote in these states: AL, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, KS, KY, IA, ID, IL, IN, LA, MA, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI. Candidates based in CA, IL, TX, or PA are strongly preferred.
Role Description:
We’re seeking a Manager, Retail Logistics & EDI to lead the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of our retail fulfillment and EDI operations. This role owns logistics and EDI performance across our most critical retail accounts. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of retailer compliance, EDI architecture, routing, and 3PL performance, along with strong leadership skills to influence cross-functional partners, drive issue resolution, and scale operational excellence. This role reports to the Director, B2B and Retail Fulfillment, who also serves as the backup for this role.
What you’ll do:
Team Leadership and Cross-functional Partnership
- Serve as operational lead for retail EDI merchants in retailer calls, EDI partnership meetings, merchant escalations, and business reviews.
- Partner with internal teams (Engineering, Product, Implementation, Fulfillment Operations, Sales) to optimize systems and remove friction from go-live to outbound flow for all retail EDI merchants.
Process Ownership and Improvement
- Identify gaps in training, tooling, or SOPs and work to implement scalable solutions.
- Own documentation, performance metrics, and internal training for all things related to outbound routing and EDI execution.
- Develop, document, and continuously improve SOPs related to retailer routing guides, collect carrier scheduling, and outbound shipping standards.
Retail Routing and Compliance
- Maintain and audit routing guides and shipping instructions across all retailer accounts; ensure fulfillment teams are trained and updated on changes.
- Responsible for ensuring the organization remains fully compliant with GS1 retail standards.
- Serve as subject matter expert for GS1 identification standards including GTIN, GLN, SSCC, and UCC-128.
EDI Oversight and Execution
- Lead and manage new EDI projects, ensuring successful onboarding of trading partners and integration with internal systems.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of EDI operations.
- Go-to expert for all aspects of the EDI technology stack in support of communications, data transformation and integrations.
- Provide post-production support internally and externally to ensure implementations are successful and all updates to payment terms, shipment modes, and other configurations are deployed successfully minimizing operational disruptions and retailer chargebacks.
- Translate business opportunities and retailer requirements into EDI mapping specifications and product requirements for engineering team and EDI partners.
- Comply to all food safety and compliance policies and regulations.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- 7 + years of experience in supply chain management.
- 5+ years of experience in operations and/order management.
- 2+ years experience in EDI implementation / support preferred.
- 2 + years experience in ERP system preferred.
- Experience with barcode label design software and standards.
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats.
- Background in WMS computer systems.
- Ability to clearly articulate technical topics to a non-technical audience.
- Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time.
ShipBob believes in transparency while providing a competitive total compensation package with a pay for performance approach. The full base pay range for this position in our compensation architecture is $86,670 - $144,450. In addition to base salary, this role includes the opportunity to be eligible for participation in the Company's discretionary bonus plan based on Company's plans and in accordance with Company’s policies.
