Location: Remote in India 

Shift Timings: 6:30 pm- 3:30 am IST (US Hours)

Role Description: 

We are seeking a Senior Accounting Specialist with solid domain expertise in accounting to fill a new position on our continually growing Accounting & Finance team, based in New Delhi.  This position is responsible for maintaining our internal ship cost reconciliation module, which reconciles our internal ship cost estimate versus invoiced amounts on an order level. This role will also be investigating reconciliation discrepancies, working with carriers on invoice ingestion and processing, flagging billing issues related to ship cost, assisting in properly classifying freight expense, and performing monthly closing activities. The position will report to the Senior Accountant based out of the US along with interactions with India & US Accounting team. The position is critical in supporting accounting activities for our core US operations. This role reports to Senior Manager, Accounting. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Maintain ship cost reconciliation module to ensure accuracy and completeness for month end accruals. 
  • Perform weekly completeness checks by carrier; follow up with carriers on missing invoices. 
  • Support Internal Control activities to ensure compliance. 
  • Analyze and investigate discrepancies between expected and actual billed amounts. 
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to resolve data issues and identify process improvements. 
  • Add new shipping accounts into carrier portals ensuring completeness. 
  • Perform weekly ship cost validations to assist in month end ship cost accrual. 
  • Assist with freight cost coding and correctly designating freight expense. 
  • Track freight loads booked directly with carriers and flag discrepancies to the transportation team. 
  • Post various journal entries to support month end close. 
  • Perform accurate and timely period-end close activities as per US GAAP. 
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary. 

What you’ll bring to the table: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce. 
  • Ready to work in the US time zone (6:30 pm IST to 3:30 am IST).
  • CA/CS/ICWA  preferred. 
  • 6-8 years of accounting experience. 
  • Knowledge of accounting GAAPs. US GAAP/IFRS preferred. 
  • Solid knowledge & skills in MS excel. 
  • Excellent communication and organization skills are mandatory. 
  • Experience with the NetSuite Accounting system is a plus. 
  • Ability to work well with a lean team and manage workload independently.
