WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR 🔍

Play a critical role in defining, communicating, and executing the product strategy. Gather feature requests, schedule releases and coordinate sprints.  Work across multiple functional groups to define and deliver new products and features, as well as identify opportunities to improve existing products.  Be a leader and an influencer, getting cross-functional alignment and driving teams to deliver compelling products that address customer needs, on time and with great quality.

WHAT YOU'LL DO 💪🏻

As a Product Manager you will be responsible for:

Deliver:

  • Accountable for effective product backlog management; develop scope and define backlog items (epics/features/user stories) and prioritize based on the overall product strategy and business objectives.
  • With a broader (i.e. vertical-level) vision and strategy set, lead continuous discovery to prioritize and drive development of supporting product opportunities.
  • Accountable for each stage of the development process and final product.
  • Lead the development team to ‘productize’ the feature set to avoid delivering custom one-off solutions.
  • Solve product related problems, make decisions, complete trade-off analysis to stay on track towards business deliverable commitments.
  • Work with the Product Designer to validate potential solutions with customers.
  • Lead the development team to define & refine the team’s mandates & KPIs.
  • Develop appropriate detailed specifications for the product features so they are clearly understood by the development team.
  • Support the development team by describing & documenting the feature’s intended functionality.
  • Communicate the business value that is delivered at the end of every sprint.
  • Identify risks & blockers and manage them to mitigate their impact.
  • Partner with Data Science/Analytics to properly size an opportunity.
  • Define key metrics to measure feature success or failure; ensure measurement is done on every feature, make go/no go decisions based on measurements.
  • Work with the development team & Data Science/Analytics teams to ensure all KPIs are measurable & actively tracked.

Listen:

  • Gain a deep understanding of and empathy for customers’ needs & problems through data analysis, product discovery sessions, direct input from stakeholders and conducting research.
  • Work with the Market Research team to conduct research and obtain consumer feedback to craft products and features.
  • Regularly perform product and competitive analyses which are used to recommend strategies that improve the product’s market position and improve quality over product competition.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders and cross-functional teams to shape requirements, features and end products

Vision:

  • Develop and own the product roadmap.  Work with internal customers to analyze the needs and align the product roadmap to strategic goals.
  • Frame customer problems to explain why improvements are needed, and how they fit into the product roadmap/strategy.
  • Influence the product strategy to get buy-in up-down-across the organization (up to leaders, down to development teams and across to peers & stakeholders).
  • Collaborate with other product managers to ensure consistency and compatibility across all Flipp products.

Trust:

  • Work with Engineering, Agile Delivery and Product Design to function effectively as a cohesive development team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders during the visioning and concept development of the product.
  • Develop working relationships with customers to facilitate product discovery.
  • Identify and help customers understand the business model, value and value proposition.
  • Act as an ambassador for the product and as the primary contact for queries related to the product; represent the team in front of stakeholders and customers.
  • Communicate progress on milestones to the entire company on a regular basis.

Team Leadership:

  • Work with Engineering and Product Design to function effectively as a cohesive team.
  • Monitor team health and take measures to address any team health issues.
  • Review with the development team the progress made against team milestones on a regular basis.
  • Manage & motivate the team to consistently deliver high quality products on time

WHAT YOU'LL NEED 🪄

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
  • 2+ years of software product management experience taking B2C/B2B products to market and seeing them through multiple iterations.
  • Strong analysis skills: Understands what questions to ask, and where to ask them. 
  • Has demonstrated taking a sound data-driven approach in decision making (via KPIs and metrics). Aware of the tools at their disposal, and can utilize data to derive the correct conclusions. Able to ask questions to challenge the data and conclusions of others.
  • Experienced communicator: Competent listening, verbal, visual, and written communication. Comfortable with presenting their ideas. Documents meetings, actions, ideas, etc. in a way that is easy to follow and understand. Knows some techniques to manage stakeholders and partners effectively.
  • Has experience navigating through conflicting priorities, turning ambiguity into clarity in a fast-changing environment.
  • Competent at positioning features/benefits for customers. Can sell their product effectively to internal stakeholders
  • Strong fluency in English, to daily communicate with the Canadian colleagues;
