Play a critical role in defining, communicating, and executing the product strategy. Gather feature requests, schedule releases and coordinate sprints. Work across multiple functional groups to define and deliver new products and features, as well as identify opportunities to improve existing products. Be a leader and an influencer, getting cross-functional alignment and driving teams to deliver compelling products that address customer needs, on time and with great quality.
WHAT YOU'LL DO 💪🏻
As a Product Manager you will be responsible for:
Play a critical role in defining, communicating, and executing the roadmap for Flipp’s data products. Understand user problems, design solutions, manage delivery, and measure results. Work across multiple functional groups to define and deliver new data products and identify opportunities to improve existing data products. Be a leader and an influencer, getting cross-functional alignment and driving teams to deliver compelling products that address customer needs, on time and with great quality. Gain the experience to grow into a strategic platform product leader.
Listen:
- Gain a deep understanding of and empathy for internal customers’ needs, desires, and pain points through data analysis, product discovery sessions, direct input from stakeholders and conducting research.
- Determine the business value of solving customer problems
- Create ever-evolving artifacts that map the customer opportunity landscape
- Gather specific requirements from stakeholders for new datasets
Vision:
- Effectively triage among potential opportunities leveraging data and strategic context
- Frame customer problems to explain why improvements are needed, and how they fit into the product roadmap/strategy.
- Set the product strategy based on your analysis and get buy-in up-down-across the organization (up to leaders, down to development teams and across to peers & stakeholders).
- Set the team’s Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
- Develop and own the product roadmap. Communicate the “what”, “why,” and “how” broadly across the organization.
- Collaborate with other product managers to ensure consistency and compatibility across all Flipp products
Deliver:
- Lead problem definition and solution ideation in partnership with Data Engineering and Analytics. Be the decision-maker on how Flipp’s datasets are designed, ensuring cohesion with our Data platform architecture and analytics strategy
- Validate potential solutions with customers.
- Be accountable for each stage of the development process and final product.
- Accountable for effective product backlog management; develop scope and define backlog items (epics/features/user stories) and prioritize based on the overall product strategy and business objectives.
- Develop appropriate documentation for the product features so they are clearly understood by the development team.
- Define key metrics to measure feature success or failure; ensure measurement is done on every feature, make go/no go decisions based on measurements.
- Track and measure KPIs
- Keep development on track. Identify risks & blockers and manage them to mitigate their impact.
- Lead the development team to build iteratively and obsessively measure the customer value created through each iteration
- Communicate the business value that is delivered at the end of every sprint.
- Keep stakeholders informed about OKR progress
Team Leadership:
- Work with Software Engineering, Data Engineering, and Product Analytics to function effectively as a cohesive data community.
- Monitor team health and take measures to address any team health issues.
- Lead the development team to define & refine the team’s mandates & KPIs.
- Review the progress made against team milestones with the development team on a regular basis.
- Support & motivate the team to consistently deliver high quality products on time.
- Act as an ambassador for the product and as the primary contact for queries related to the product; represent the team in front of stakeholders and customers.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED 🪄
- 3+ years of product management experience OR product management-adjacent experience (e.g., Agile/Scrum, engineering, analytics
- Strong analysis skills: Understands what questions to ask, and where to ask them.
- Has demonstrated taking a sound data-driven approach in decision-making (via KPIs and metrics). Aware of the tools at their disposal, and can utilize data to derive the correct conclusions. Able to ask questions to challenge the data and conclusions of others.
- Experienced communicator: Competent listening, verbal, visual, and written communication. Comfortable with presenting their ideas. Documents meetings, actions, ideas, etc. in a way that is easy to follow and understand. Knows some techniques to manage stakeholders and partners effectively.
- Experience working with data engineers and data analysts
- Familiarity with agile/scrum
- Familiarity with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence)
- Familiarity with Databricks or similar
- Technical understanding of AWS Cloud infrastructure and data capabilities (data infrastructure, eventing, data engineering, analytics capabilities, dashboarding and querying languages)
