Engineering Manager

Ghent

Location Qualifications: Ghent (hybrid: min. 2x week at the office)

Position Overview:

As an Engineering Manager at Showpad, you'll play a critical role in shaping the success of one or two engineering teams and the products they deliver. You'll lead with empathy and clarity, empowering engineers to grow while driving impactful outcomes for the business. With a strong technical foundation and a people-first mindset, you'll bridge strategy and execution ensuring your teams are aligned, motivated, and consistently delivering high-quality, scalable solutions. In this role, you'll also be expected to explore and champion opportunities to leverage AI to enhance our products, processes, and team effectiveness. This is a dynamic leadership opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology, people, purpose, and the transformative potential of artificial intelligence.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Engineering Manager at Showpad, you’ll lead with purpose and passion. You’ll oversee multiple high-performing teams, drive technical excellence, and cultivate a collaborative, growth-oriented environment. From guiding strategy to removing roadblocks, you’ll be the force that empowers your engineers to build world-class products.

  • Team Leadership & Growth: Coach, mentor, and inspire engineers to grow their technical skills and thrive in their careers — shaping future leaders and innovators.
  • Strategic Delivery: Own the end-to-end delivery of complex products, ensuring your team(s) ship impactful solutions that meet business needs — on time and at scale  while also considering how AI can enhance these solutions.
  • Roadmapping & Prioritization: Collaborate with Product and Customer Success to create roadmaps that strike the right balance between innovation, speed, and system health.
  • Process & Performance: Foster efficient ways of working, drive continuous improvement, and implement metrics that ensure your team(s) stay focused and successful.
  • Communication & Alignment: Act as a liaison between engineering and other departments, championing clarity, alignment, and shared goals across the org.
  • Technical Guidance: While you won’t be in the code daily, you’ll work closely with technical leads to influence architectural decisions and uphold high engineering standards.
  • Culture & Engagement: Champion Showpad’s engineering culture — embracing a “you build it, you run it” mindset, encouraging experimentation, and celebrating wins big and small.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams, with a strong track record of delivery, mentorship, and team development.
  • Strong foundation in software engineering, with hands-on experience in modern tech stacks (e.g., TypeScript, Go, Python, Angular).
  • Ability to support technical decision-making through systems thinking, architecture knowledge, an understanding of engineering best practices, and an awareness of AI trends and applications.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), continuous integration/deployment, and modern project management tools.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and communicate technical strategies to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A builder’s mindset — driven to create processes, grow people, and solve problems with structure and empathy.
  • Passion for people, performance, and progress — and a strong sense of ownership over your team’s impact.

You’ll Thrive Here If You:

  • Love building high-trust, high-performing teams where people are empowered to do their best work.
  • Balance empathy with accountability — giving thoughtful feedback and making bold decisions when needed.
  • Enjoy being a connector between product, engineering, and business — keeping teams aligned and energized.
  • Are excited about the potential of AI to revolutionize software development and enhance product capabilities.
  • Want to be part of a culture that values curiosity, autonomy, and collaboration.
