THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering. You will work closely with other engineering managers in the software engineering teams to react quickly and produce quality solutions to complex technical challenges. WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON:
- Hands-on leadership role responsible for all software engineering (firmware, mobile application & cloud).
- Manage and mentor the software engineering team to deliver projects while focusing on improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Lead the software development of next-generation medical device systems integrating cutting-edge wireless sensors, mobile, and cloud-based software.
- Collaborate with Product Management to ensure that timelines are met without compromising quality.
- Establish and continuously improve engineering processes and methodologies in compliance with ISO 62304.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve technical bottlenecks across the product development lifecycle.
- Take responsibility for budget planning, management, and resource allocation for the software teams.
ABOUT YOU:
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Extensive experience in software engineering with the capability to actively participate in coding and development.
- Proficient in agile methodologies and well-versed in FDA/MDR regulations.
- Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management, Quality Management Systems, and Regulatory Compliance.
- In-depth technical knowledge of Class II and/or Class III medical device technology.
- Proven track record of successful medical device development with significant software components.
- Demonstrated experience in adhering to ISO 62304 quality frameworks, as well as in-depth knowledge of FDA and EU regulatory requirements related to design controls and risk management.
- Familiarity with wireless standards such as Bluetooth Low Energy and Wi-Fi.
YOU MAY THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF:
- You have prior experience in developing wearable devices or patient monitoring products.
- Your engineering experience includes significant tenure at a healthcare startup that grew from under 50 employees to several hundred.
- You exhibit resilience under pressure and can navigate through ambiguity.
- Experienced in working with global teams.
