Associate Director, Product & Market Development

Santa Clara, CA (Hybrid:  Tuesday through Thursday in-office required.  Not a remote role)

Travel: Up to 30%

Salary range: $165,000 - $185,000

SI-BONE® is focused on helping patients in one of the most under-served, under-diagnosed, and under-treated areas in orthopedics, the sacroiliac (SI) joint. SI-BONE developed an innovative, patented implant to fuse the SI joint. The iFuse Implant System® provides a less invasive alternative to traditional sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion surgery and has been used in over 90,000 procedures to date.

General Responsibilities: 

The Associate Director is a strategic upstream marketing role that reports to the Sr. Director of Product & Market Development as an integral member of the Product Marketing team.

This person will serve as a passionate product champion, a subject matter expert, a creative solutions provider, and a respected cross-functional team leader, designing and executing strategic product marketing initiatives, responsible for the overall health and growth of the business assigned to her/him.  Daily responsibilities include collaboration with Sales, R&D, Customer Service, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Finance, Executive Leadership, and surgeon partners/customers. 

Specific Responsibilities:           

Product Management

  • Researches, develops, and drives both near and long-term strategic marketing plans and commercial roadmaps.
  • Establishes and executes reliable and pragmatic Product Marketing project plans.
  • Manages multiple complex projects across domestic and international markets.
  • Oversees and generates product labeling, market preference testing, instructions for use, surgical technique guides, sales brochures, demo kits, and other sales assets.
  • Possesses strong product launch build forecasting and sales forecasting skills.
  • Develops, represents, and tracks these forecast models through direct interaction with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership teams.
  • Responsively manages product complaints and field feedback to maintain product portfolio and business health.
  • Prepares marketing plans with advertising/promotion materials and expense budgets/schedules for effective implementation.
  • Experienced with risk analysis, uFMEA, design control, and regulatory requirements.

Cross Functional Team Leadership

  • Provides leadership grounded in a clear understanding of all functional roles and interactions within the corporate organization, including Sales, R&D, Operations, Finance, Quality, Regulatory, Corporate Marketing, Clinical Research, Professional Education, and Executive Leadership.
  • Effectively represents the Voice of the Customer and comprehensively captures customer requirements for a product or project.
  • Articulates these requirements, understanding how concise and complete communication with the product/project team will mitigate scope creep.

Surgeon Interaction

  • Possesses a strong track record of identifying, leading, communicating with, and coordinating surgeon KOLs during product development efforts.
  • Powerfully represents as the product and subject matter expert in the field when covering cases, at tradeshows, and at surgeon events.
  • Effectively coordinates surgeon peer-to-peer events such as surgeon dinner presentations, thinktank conferences, podium presentations, and clinical submissions.

Business Development

  • Evaluates, compares, and contrasts market and portfolio growth opportunities, both organic and inorganic.
  • Creates business cases for new products/projects and strategic plans, including relevant financial modeling, P&L, and forecasts.

Sales Support

  • Works closely and frequently with sales leadership to ensure integration and synchronization of product marketing plans with area business plans, including new launches and sustaining projects.
  • Works closely with reimbursement and contracting team to secure hospital/account approvals.
  • Researches and recommends pricing for the growth and sustainment of product portfolio
  • Analyzes sales performance and provides insights regarding advertising, promotion, sales methods, and sales incentives to maximize revenues.
  • Supports sales team objectives with surgeon focus group events, sales asset creation, sales training, field visits, and case coverage as needed.
  • Provides market and competitive analysis to internal customers and sales force in support of properly positioning assigned products for business conversions.
  • Manages and organizes information communicated to sales force in the form of product updates and field communications.

 

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering or health-related field
  • MBA or Master’s degree preferred

Expertise:

  • 7+ years of combined spine/ortho product management and/or sales experience.
  • Spinal deformity product management experience preferred.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced, dynamic, small team environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated strategic & analytical expertise combined with a track record of tactical execution.
  • Possesses a unique combination of creative and analytical talents, business and technical savvy.
  • Though a recognized leader, presents as a “Do-er”, demonstrating a team player attitude, a willingness to be the first to roll up her/his sleeves and dive into the details, and the ability to support others as required.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Exhibits a positive proactive “can do” attitude, is open-minded and responsive to new ideas.
  • Actively assumes leadership, responsibility, and accountability, displaying initiative and perseverance to bring about meaningful change.
  • Actively seeks to be respectful, self-aware, empathetic, and live with integrity and character.
  • Driven by a tremendous work ethic and passion to succeed and exceed expectations.

Please note that this is not a remote role.  Candidates must reside in the SF Bay Area.

Salary range:  $165,000 - $185,000. The compensation range for this position is specific to the location and is in good faith what SI-BONE expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Supplemental pay: bonus and stock
