New

Senior Engineering Manager

Remote

Sift Healthcare is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead a small, cross-functional product team. This role requires a strong technical background in front-end engineering, particularly building data-dense applications with React, Next.js, and TypeScript. We are looking ofr a leader who champions AI-driven development and uses coding agents as a core part of how the team ships. Full-stack range is a plus, including familiarity with Python, dbt, and SQL data pipelines so you can partner closely with data engineering.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing direct reports and driving successful product engineering projects. Experience working with PII/PHI/HIPAA data is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the team's success.
  • Own the design and delivery of Sift's SMART on FHIR applications — embedded, standards-based, EMR-agnostic experiences (and CDS Hooks where applicable) that surface Sift's scores and recommendations directly within the EMR workflows.
  • Champion AI-driven development across the team. Set standards for agent-assisted engineering (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot), review of AI-generated changes, and keep the codebase legible and well-documented for both humans and agents.
  • Partner with data engineering on the Python, dbt, and SQL pipelines that feed the product, ensuring the frontend and data layers evolve together with quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and prioritize engineering initiatives.
  • Drive the implementation of best practices across the engineering team, including version control, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance the efficiency of engineering workflows at Sift Healthcare.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences within Sift Healthcare.

   QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in a senior frontend or full-stack engineering role, with deep hands-on expertise in React, Next.js, and TypeScript — ideally on data-dense or B2B/internal tooling where performance, state management, and accessibility matter.
  • Hands-on experience building SMART on FHIR applications — including the SMART/OAuth2 launch and authorization flow, working with FHIR R4 resources, and embedding apps within EMR workflows (CDS Hooks experience a plus).
  • Hands-on fluency with AI coding agents and AI-powered product development — using agents as a core part of the delivery workflow and ideally building UIs on top of LLM/ML outputs.
  • Experience managing and leading a team of engineers, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Full-stack range is a plus — familiarity with Python, SQL, and data pipeline tools like dbt is valuable for partnering with our data team, but deep backend/Python expertise is not required.
  • Familiarity with HL7 v2 messaging (e.g., ADT, ORU) and healthcare interoperability standards more broadly is preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
