Product Manager (Data Modeling)
About the Role:
Sigma is a next-generation business intelligence, data exploration, and application-building platform that is changing the analytics landscape. It offers a spreadsheet-like interface that enables all decision makers to securely analyze billions of rows of live data with the unlimited scale and speed of the cloud. With Sigma, everyone can quickly answer their own questions to make and visualize accurate, data-driven decisions.
As the Product team grows, we’re looking to bring on a Senior PM to lead our Data Modeling efforts. Data Modeling is a critical part of Sigma’s Enterprise strategy and our overall vision for the product, and will receive executive-level exposure on Day 1. This role provides the perfect opportunity to join a successful, rapidly scaling growth company on one of the most pivotal teams in the Product org.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Set the 12-18 month vision for Data Modeling at Sigma, secure buy-in from the executive team, and champion your vision across the company
- Develop end-to-end product strategy to achieve significant growth in the $20B Enterprise BI market
- Develop a rich, reliable and actionable understanding of the target user types by working directly with the Sigma customer base–and incorporate that understanding to deliver product experiences
- Drive the product roadmap to deliver a world-class data modeling experience
- Partner across all functions (Product, Design, Engineering, Analytics, Customer Success, Sales and Marketing) to deliver coordinated GTM efforts
- Work with team, to iteratively define, build, test, and launch features
We’re Looking for Someone Who Has:
- 3-5 years of Product Management experience with a focus on data, analytics, business intelligence, data prep and transformation, or other relevant fields
- Served as “the face” of a large project or initiative within their company. They’re able to communicate well to the broader organization; setting a compelling vision and with a talent for precise articulations of customer problems
- Demonstrated experience shipping customer-facing features and achieving target business objectives and metrics
- A bias towards Outcomes over Outputs (we care about moving the needle on important business metrics, not about shipping as many things as possible)
- A strong bias towards simplicity and usability
- Experience working collaboratively with engineering and design counterparts. At Sigma, PMs are part of a 3-legged stool, they drive through influence, not authority
- Experience working with BI tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, databases such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, etc. and/or transformation tools such as dbt, ETLeap, Alteryx, Informatica, etc.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $180k - $230k annually, plus competitive equity and benefits packages.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work at Sigma Computing. This role is eligible for stock options, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
About us:
Sigma is the only cloud analytics and business intelligence tool empowering business teams to break free from the confines of the dashboard, explore data for themselves, and make better, faster decisions. The award-winning software was built to capitalize on the performance power of cloud data warehouses to combine data sources and analyze billions of rows of data instantly via an intuitive, spreadsheet-like interface – no coding required.
Since launching with its unique interface, Sigma Computing has added features such as collaboration tools and embedded analytics capabilities. The most recent product launch included a set of AI tools such as forecasting capabilities, an AI copilot and a notebook interface for users who prefer a code-first environment.
Sigma announced its $200M in Series D financing in May 2024, to continue transforming BI through its innovations in AI infrastructure, data application development, enterprise-wide collaboration, and business user adoption. Spark Capital and Avenir Growth Capital co-led the Series D funding round, with additional participation from a group of past investors including Snowflake Ventures and Sutter Hill Ventures. The Series D funding, raised at a valuation 60% higher than the company’s Series C round three years ago, promises to further accelerate Sigma’s growth.
