We are in a maker’s culture and we expect managers who are hands-on.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Translate complex data workflows into simple, elegant, usable interfaces that empower non-technical users to explore and act on data.
  • Establish design best practices and processes that elevate the quality, craft, and efficiency of our output.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Product, Engineering, and Research to deliver seamless, intuitive experiences that solve real customer problems.
  • Ensure design work is aligned with Sigma’s brand, vision, and strategic goals while pushing the boundaries of innovation in data visualization.
  • Provide critical feedback, guidance, and coaching to designers, helping them progress in their craft and careers.
  • Champion a user-centered approach and help establish a design culture rooted in empathy, iteration, and measurable impact.

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in product/interaction design, with at least 2 years in a team leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering complex digital products, ideally in SaaS or enterprise environments.
  • Strong foundational skills in interaction and visual design, with a sharp eye for detail and a system-thinking mindset.
  • Experience driving design strategy, vision-setting, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Fluency in design tools like Figma, Sketch, or similar—Figma expertise preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in agile, fast-moving teams and shipping production-ready designs.
  • Familiarity with or interest in AI, data analytics, visualization, or enterprise tools is a strong plus.

Portfolio Requirements

Your portfolio should:

  • Showcase end-to-end case studies that highlight your impact as a design leader and practitioner.
  • Demonstrate design thinking, problem-solving, and your approach to managing complexity.
  • Include examples of team leadership, collaboration, and mentoring in addition to hands-on design work.
  • Reveal how your work aligned with business objectives and delivered value to users.

Sigma is the only cloud analytics and business intelligence tool empowering business teams to break free from the confines of the dashboard, explore data for themselves, and make better, faster decisions. The award-winning software was built to capitalize on the performance power of cloud data warehouses to combine data sources and analyze billions of rows of data instantly via an intuitive, spreadsheet-like interface – no coding required.

Sigma announced its $200M in Series D financing in May 2024, to continue transforming BI through its innovations in AI infrastructure, data application development, enterprise-wide collaboration, and business user adoption. Spark Capital and Avenir Growth Capital co-led the Series D funding round, with additional participation from a group of past investors including Snowflake Ventures and Sutter Hill Ventures. The Series D funding, raised at a valuation 60% higher than the company’s Series C round three years ago, promises to further accelerate Sigma’s growth.
