Senior Content Designer
Sigma’s vision is to create an insight-driven world where people and organizations are transformed for the better by access to data and the insights it contains. At Sigma, we are building a cloud-native business intelligence platform that allows users to tap into their biggest databases hosted in the cloud and easily conduct analysis and graph data -- all without any programming involved. We are growing the product design team and looking for a designer who has the curiosity to get to know our users and the chops to design world-class, understandable experiences. You will be part of a talented team of designers on a shared mission to make data analytics highly usable and easily accessible to non-technical users.
What You Will Be Doing
- You’ll own and shape the user-facing language and content strategy for key areas of our product, helping to define the future of our product.
- You’ll be working with a talented, down-to-earth set of data-obsessed people who iterate, learn, grow, and ship value to customers together.
- You’ll translate complex data concepts and analytical actions into clear, intuitive language, enabling users to confidently build analyses and find insights even when they are not highly technical.
- You'll own the end-to-end content design process for major product areas, from initial strategy and research to final copy and implementation.
- Working with our PMs, researchers, marketeers, product designers, and engineers, you will actively seek user feedback and collaboratively advance content solutions that improve product adoption, comprehension, and overall usability.
- You will champion content accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring our in-product language, terminology, and information architecture are easily understood by users of all backgrounds and abilities.
- You will develop scalable content frameworks, design system practices, define terminology, and build glossaries to ensure a cohesive and consistent voice across the entire product.
Qualifications We Need
- 5+ years of experience in content design, UX writing, copywriting, or a related field like technical writing or content strategy for complex digital products.
- A strong portfolio of work demonstrating your process for creating and implementing effective content, from UI microcopy to broader information architecture.
- Proven track record of designing content for commercially successful, world-class software.
- Capable of working autonomously, leading complex projects, and delivering high-quality content solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of rapid iteration, feedback cycles, and experimentation. Seeks deep understanding of customer needs and has the ability to assess and incorporate their feedback into content solutions.
- Demonstrable ability to think about entire content systems, with the vision to design the big picture, and the tactical ability to break it down so that engineering can succeed in building it incrementally.
- Exceptional facilitation, communication and presentation skills; demonstrating the ability to clearly explain content decisions and advocate for the user to anyone in the company.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field such as Design, HCI, English, Communications, or Journalism.
- Expertise in Figma and experience collaborating directly within design files.
- Experience with data analytics, business intelligence, or other complex technical domains is a strong plus.
- Startup experience is a plus.
Portfolio Requirements
- We want to see work that has been successfully released and demonstrates your skills in content strategy, information architecture, and UX writing.
- We want to see your process and the progressive evolution of your work. Please show the business problem you were trying to solve, the constraints and assumptions you worked within, and your significant iterations leading to the final product.
- We want to understand how your content solutions furthered company objectives while meeting user needs. Examples of style guides, glossaries, content testing, and naming exercises are highly encouraged.
- Portfolios that showcase work on complex, data-heavy products will be a plus.

About us:
Sigma is the only cloud analytics and business intelligence tool empowering business teams to break free from the confines of the dashboard, explore data for themselves, and make better, faster decisions. The award-winning software was built to capitalize on the performance power of cloud data warehouses to combine data sources and analyze billions of rows of data instantly via an intuitive, spreadsheet-like interface – no coding required.
Since launching with its unique interface, Sigma Computing has added features such as collaboration tools and embedded analytics capabilities. The most recent product launch included a set of AI tools such as forecasting capabilities, an AI copilot and a notebook interface for users who prefer a code-first environment.
Sigma announced its $200M in Series D financing in May 2024, to continue transforming BI through its innovations in AI infrastructure, data application development, enterprise-wide collaboration, and business user adoption. Spark Capital and Avenir Growth Capital co-led the Series D funding round, with additional participation from a group of past investors including Snowflake Ventures and Sutter Hill Ventures. The Series D funding, raised at a valuation 60% higher than the company’s Series C round three years ago, promises to further accelerate Sigma’s growth.
