Director of Clinical and Transformative Services - Alaska Family Services - $120,000 + Benefits
In a world of noise, we find the signal — the pulse of potential. We weave the strands of talent, vision, and purpose into organizations that endure. Blending intelligence with intuition, we honor the human art of connection at the heart of every great company.
Southcentral Alaska | Onsite | Open to candidates relocating from the Lower 48
About the Opportunity
We are partnered with a well-established Alaska nonprofit on a confidential search for a senior clinical leader to join its executive team. This is a newly restructured role, built for a clinician who has grown into a systems thinker: someone who can hold clinical standards, develop program managers, and bring clinical and non-clinical programs together into one holistic, trauma-informed experience for the people the organization serves.
Reporting to the CEO, you will lead one of the largest teams in the organization and the programs that meet people during the hardest moments of their lives: outpatient behavioral health, survivor services, family support and prevention, and intervention programming. The mandate is not to maintain what exists. It is to integrate, strengthen, and build.
About the Organization
The organization is one of the larger human services providers in its region, with a multi-decade history, a diversified base of public and private funding, and a broad portfolio of programs serving thousands of individuals and families each year.
It is doing work that is new to its field. The organization leads with empathy, autonomy, and psychological safety; integrates services so families and individuals get what they need without running a gauntlet; and keeps improving programs in ways that center humanity, dignity, and ethical practice. Leaders here have real freedom to build and improve systems rather than maintain them. Wins are celebrated, creativity is encouraged, and staff feel trusted, respected, and safe.
The organization believes in holistic, strengths-based support, meeting people without judgment, and helping families thrive by addressing immediate safety needs and long-term stability.
Strategic Priorities
The Director will focus on these priorities while partnering with the CEO and leadership team on the needs of the organization.
Long-Term Organizational Priorities
- Establish the organization as the region’s primary resource for developing and sustaining healthy families.
- Expand behavioral health treatment offerings and programs.
- Advance survivor services to trauma-informed, best-practice standards.
- Continually move systems toward evidence-based and promising practices.
Your First 12 to 18 Months
- Provide program managers with support, stability, and consistency while reinforcing a healthy work culture.
- Develop a complete understanding of the organization by deeply engaging with staff, programs, and leadership.
- Manage the changes inherent in a newly reorganized program structure with high growth potential.
- Begin assessing cross-programmatic opportunities to develop a long-term vision.
- Identify recruitment needs for increased staff and program capacity.
- Learn the organization’s Medicaid billing systems and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Supervise and mentor program managers and clinical supervisory staff across outpatient behavioral health, survivor services (including emergency shelter, advocacy, crisis response, and community support), family support and prevention programs, and state-approved intervention programming.
- Coach and mentor direct reports by embedding strengths-based approaches, trauma-informed care, harm reduction principles, and restorative practices into leadership and program operations.
- Support program managers and their staff through complex client situations and emotional challenges, fostering resilience and ethical decision-making.
- Ensure clinical frameworks are integrated into decision-making, staff supervision, and service delivery to raise the quality of care and support staff well-being and professional growth.
- Set the vision, clinical productivity standards, clinical quality expectations, and integration of best practices across programs.
- Serve on the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning and program expansion and working collaboratively to ensure high-functioning daily operations.
- Lead initiatives that integrate clinical support into non-clinical programs so that holistic, trauma-informed care runs through the whole organization.
Billing
- Set strategic direction for billable services.
- Collaborate with operations and finance leadership and direct reports to ensure billing accuracy and clinical productivity.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement through quality assurance initiatives, in-service training, and data reporting.
- Oversee clinical quality assurance and ensure ethical and clinical compliance across all direct service programs.
- Authorize and oversee substance use disorder treatment testing protocols as appropriate.
- Serve as the internal resource for confidentiality regulations and ethical standards in every service area.
