How will this role have impact?
The Senior Data Scientist’s role is to transform data into critical insights with respect to core and new products that can be used to make rational decisions by:
- Collecting and preparing data for analysis – Cleansing / Data Wrangling
- Creating models to evaluate the data – Statistical, Visual, Machine Learning
- Evaluating models and refining as needed – How well does it work and can we improve it?
- Delivering solutions based upon the model and communicating their value and use
This role reports directly to the Director of Data Science & is open to hybrid candidates who can be in the office in Galway two days a week.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- BS or MS degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or another quantitative field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of professional data scientist experience (3+ years with advanced degree) with a proven track record of success in delivering high-impact data science solutions.
- Solid understanding of high-level product architecture and data flow patterns.
- Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with others.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills: ability to tell a clear, concise, actionable story with data to stakeholders.
- Significant experience with statistical analysis, hypothesis testing and data visualisation.
- Proficient programming in Python & SQL.
- Experience in building cloud native analytical solutions, either on H20, Azure or GCP.
- Experience in designing/developing/deploying supervised and unsupervised machine learning models, time series modeling, ensemble models, deep learning models.
- Experience in designing/developing/deploying Generative AI and/or NLP based solutions using LLMs is desirable.
- Experience working with sensitive healthcare data.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mine and analyze data, applying statistical methods to identify critical insights for core and new products.
- Research and develop statistical learning models for data analysis
- Translate analytic insights into concrete, actionable recommendations for business or product improvement.
- Build accurate and impactful predictive machine learning models to be used by other colleagues.
- Give up-to-date model recommendations based on model performance.
- Collaborate with and mentor junior data science teammates.
- Comply with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures, including, but not limited to, the Compliance requirements and HIPAA.
