The Role

The IT Manager at STS will serve as the technical lead responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining secure IT infrastructure in support of federal defense operations. Operating as a player-coach, this individual will architect and execute solutions hands-on — standing up and relocating operations centers, administering multi-domain network environments, and ensuring continuous mission readiness across classified and unclassified systems. Success in this role means delivering reliable, well-documented IT capability from the ground up while managing assets with precision and supporting high-tempo exercises and senior leadership requirements. This is a mission-critical position for an entrepreneurial IT leader who thrives in dynamic, high-stakes environments.

The IT Manager at STS will:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and sustainment of secure command-and-control IT infrastructure, including NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, MPE, and bilateral network environments.
  • Execute physical teardown, transit, reinstallation, and operational restoration of IT systems and communications equipment for headquarters and operations center stand-up efforts.
  • Engineer and support secure voice, video, and data services for joint exercises and operational events, managing the full IT lifecycle from setup through post-event teardown.
  • Serve as the primary Client Systems Technician for headquarters staff, maintaining and troubleshooting workstations, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and VTC systems.
  • Manage IT asset accountability under established inventory management principles, tracking hardware and software from acquisition through disposal with auditable documentation.
  • Administer user accounts for permanent personnel and transient exercise participants, ensuring access controls and system integrity across mission systems.
  • Coordinate with technical teams, operational stakeholders, and senior leaders to deliver responsive, high-visibility support during critical mission activities.
  • Train component staff on systems, processes, and local support procedures to improve overall infrastructure readiness and operational continuity.

Education and Experience

Required

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 8+ years of relevant IT experience in secure enterprise or mission environments
  • Hands-on experience with classified and unclassified networks, including NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, MPE, or bilateral environments
  • Experience standing up, relocating, or supporting command-post, operations-center, or mission-support IT infrastructure
  • Experience with IT asset accountability, inventory management, and lifecycle tracking
  • Experience supporting exercises, operational events, or high-tempo mission environments
  • Strong troubleshooting, systems administration, and end-user support skills
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with technical teams, operational stakeholders, and senior leaders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD, Space Force, Air Force, or joint mission environments
  • Experience with headquarters relocation, communications fit-out, or facility activation
  • Experience supporting accreditation, cybersecurity compliance, or RMF-related activities
  • Experience leading small technical teams while remaining hands-on
  • Experience supporting executive or senior leader communications requirements

Required Certifications

  • CompTIA Security+ CE (or equivalent DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification)

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA Network+
  • CCNA or CCNP
  • CASP+
  • CISSP

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
